As Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Tabak Law, you will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and scalability across our rapidly growing organization. Tabak Law has grown rapidly to approximately 350 total team members, including around 180 W-2 employees, creating the need for experienced operational leadership to scale systems, teams, and accountability. This role is essential for aligning our operational strategy with our mission to provide comprehensive legal support to those in need. This role requires strong on-site presence in Southeastern Wisconsin, with the Racine/Mount Pleasant area preferred as the primary office location. Your leadership will enhance team collaboration, optimize processes, and support the firm's ambitious growth trajectory, ensuring our clients continue to receive stellar service.

What you'll do:

  • Operational Infrastructure: Build and maintain a robust infrastructure to sustain rapid organizational growth.
  • Standardization: Standardize workflows and procedures across all locations and departments.
  • KPI Development: Create and implement effective KPIs to drive accountability and performance.
  • Process Optimization: Evaluate operational inefficiencies and streamline processes for improved efficiency.
  • Change Management: Lead initiatives to manage and execute changes effectively, minimizing employee resistance.
  • Communication Alignment: Improve communication across leadership levels to ensure consistent organizational alignment.
  • Leader Development: Mentor and develop departmental leaders, establishing clear succession plans.
  • Multi-Location Oversight: Ensure operational consistency across all firm locations and departments.
  • Leadership Enablement: Build a self-sufficient operations engine that frees senior leadership from daily operational firefighting and allows them to focus on strategic growth.

What we're looking for:

  • Proven Scaling Experience: Demonstrated success scaling operations in a growing, multi-location service-based organization; healthcare, professional services, or regulated client-service environments are highly relevant.
  • Executive-Level Leadership: Experience in leading executive-level operations and cross-functional teams.
  • Change Management Expertise: Ability to lead and sustain process changes effectively within a high-growth environment.
  • Operational Excellence: Skilled in process mapping, KPI design, SOP creation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Experience aligning operations with finance, HR, IT, and other departments toward common goals.
  • People Leadership: Strong capability in mentoring and developing leadership teams for success.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication abilities to work with diverse personalities and leadership styles.
  • Analytical and Technical: Competence in operational data analysis and previous experience with tech implementations.

Why you should work here:

  • High-Impact Role: Your contributions will directly influence the firm's trajectory and foundational growth.
  • Collaboration with Leadership: Work closely with ownership and C-suite, gaining autonomy to optimize operations.
  • Leadership Development: Opportunity to mentor and establish a succession pathway for an enthusiastic internal team.
  • Meaningful Work: Help structure and scale a quickly expanding firm using cutting-edge technology and AI initiatives.

Additional perks:

  • Competitive Salary: Base salary ranging from $180,000 to $200,000, plus bonus potential.
  • Local Travel Only: All locations are within approximately 30 minutes, minimizing travel burdens.
  • Benefits: Benefits and additional perks will be discussed during the interview process.

This is a unique opportunity to impact Tabak Law's operational landscape profoundly. If you are ready to bring structure, innovation, and leadership to a fast-paced environment, we invite you to apply and be part of a team that's committed to excellence and changing lives.
