Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN for a 13-week travel contract at a Level III Trauma, Magnet-designated hospital in Milwaukee, WI, with required surgical specialty experience including robotics and laparoscopic procedures.

Details
  • Work setting is a 636-bed, Level III Trauma Center and Magnet-designated hospital in Milwaukee, WI
  • Assignment is in the main Surgery Room with 21 OR beds
  • General surgical cases only — neuro and ortho cases are not included in this assignment
  • Surgical specialties include breast/plastics, vascular, laparoscopic, general oncology, genitourinary (GU), gynecology (GYN), and abdominal robotic surgery (Da Vinci XI)
  • Patient ratio is 1:1
  • 8-hour day shifts with variable start times between 5:30 AM and 7:00 AM
  • On-call shifts run 10:30 PM–7:00 AM with 5–8 slots per 8-week call schedule
  • Weekend coverage is fulfilled through on-call rotation, including 1–2 weekends per 8-week schedule (12-hour shifts, Saturday and Sunday)
  • Holiday coverage is primarily fulfilled through on-call rotation
  • Floating is within surgical services only (main OR and urology center); no floating to other hospital campuses
  • Charting system is Epic; equipment includes Alaris and Pyxis
  • 30-minute on-call response time required
Requirements
  • Active WI or compact RN license required
  • BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of OR experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Hands-on experience with breast/plastics, laparoscopic, general oncology, GU, GYN, and Da Vinci XI robotic procedures required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • One professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required for consideration
  • Candidate's middle name or initial, date of birth, and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration
Additional Information
  • Unit is supported by charge nurses, leads, supervisors, and a manager
  • Orientation is approximately 1 to 1.5 weeks depending on team and shift, and is subject to change based on unit needs
  • Hospital-provided surgical scrubs; personal scrub caps must be covered by a surgical bouffant
  • Free parking available; daytime parking is in a detached lot approximately 2 blocks from the hospital
  • Starbucks and cafeteria available on campus
  • No call rooms available on site
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate — no radius restrictions apply
  • Former employees of Advocate Health or any of its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months before being eligible
  • First-time travelers are generally not recommended for this position; final approval is at the discretion of the hiring supervisor
  • A clinical interview is required, with final approval granted by the hiring manager
