Position Overview:

The position of CNC Set Up Tech is a starting position for a person that wishes to further develop their skills as a CNC Set Up Tech. Working beside an experienced setup tech, they will be learn the process of completing the full set up of the CNC to include the full change over and set up on different manufactures of CNC machines including HASS and Doosan. The CNC Set Up Tech will have the ability to learn quickly and become a valued team member of the Manufacturing Engineering Team.


Responsibilities:

  • Program all types of machines understanding G code, setup from either 3D models or from drawings to support older designs
  • Work with the Quality department to validate first run on each new program/product
  • Record challenges in set up situations to improve future change overs
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects (40-60lbs) and must be able to stand full shift
  • Ensure machines are running efficiently and ready to perform for next shifts
  • Assist in creating and updating Visual Work Instructions
  • Provide mentorship to operators
  • Manage cutters and holders CLOSELY to ensure materials cutting properly and replace as needed
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Proven CNC Set Up Experience from a base machine
  • Understanding and experience with EdgeCAM, Fusion or other CAD CAM software
  • Extensive experience selecting the appropriate machine tooling required for different setups (chucks, tool holdings, machine tool selection)
  • Ability to operate independently to complete a setup
  • Mechanical Aptitude
  • Experience with different controllers including Fanuc Controls
