Job Overview
- We are seeking an experienced OpenStack Administrator to join the IT Corps team for a special project. The successful candidate will be responsible for deploying, managing, and troubleshooting OpenStack-based infrastructure in R&D lab environments, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance. This is a hands-on technical role working closely with engineering and DevOps teams across global time zones.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy and manage OpenStack environments (manual and automated using Ansible, Fuel, or Kolla), including Red Hat OpenStack, Mirantis, and other vendor solutions.
- Configure and maintain core OpenStack services: Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance, Keystone, Swift, Heat, Ceilometer.
- Manage multi-tenant cloud environments with quotas, networking, and security groups.
- Perform upgrades across OpenStack releases (e.g., Kilo โ Liberty โ Mitaka).
- Automate infrastructure provisioning with Ansible, Terraform, and Chef.
- Support bare metal provisioning and virtualization with KVM and VMware ESXi.
- Provision storage backends including Ceph and Cinder volumes.
- Ensure security and compliance via RBAC and Keystone policies.
- Monitor and troubleshoot OpenStack services using Nagios and log analysis.
- Integrate OpenStack with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub, Maven).
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to knowledge sharing within engineering labs.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience configuring and managing OpenStack environments across bare metal, VMs, and containerized platforms.
- Strong knowledge of OpenStack components (Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Glance, Keystone, Swift, Heat).
- Virtualization experience: VMware ESXi, KVM, Docker; Kubernetes/Openshift a plus.
- Linux administration (Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS, Solaris).
- Infrastructure automation: Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform.
- CI/CD tools: Jenkins, Git, Maven.
- Networking: VLANs, subnets, floating IPs, Neutron SDN services.
- Storage: Ceph, Cinder, Swift, volume snapshots, backups, restores.
- Programming/Scripting: Bash, Python (preferred), Ruby, Perl, C/C++.
- Monitoring: Nagios or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified OpenStack Administrator (COA) or equivalent certification.
- AWS architecture knowledge a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and experience in fast-paced, global engineering teams.
Schedule
- NAM hours required, with flexibility for earlier start times to engage with IST-based colleagues.
- 40 hours per week, standard 5-day work schedule.
