Job Summary:
Abode TechZone, LLC is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Cloud Engineer to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert in OpenStack, responsible for designing, implementing, and managing large-scale private cloud environments while ensuring reliability, scalability, and security of the infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
• Design, deploy, and maintain a robust and scalable OpenStack private cloud infrastructure.
• Lead the migration of our existing VMware ESXi based virtual machines to the OpenStack platform, ensuring minimal downtime and a seamless transition.
• Manage and administer all aspects of the OpenStack environment, including Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Keystone, Glance, and other modules.
• Implement and manage software-defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization (NFV) solutions within the OpenStack environment.
• Ensure the security and compliance of the cloud infrastructure by implementing and managing security best practices, policies, and procedures.
• Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management using tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
• Monitor the health, performance, and capacity of the OpenStack cloud, and proactively address any issues.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to support the deployment of applications and services on the OpenStack cloud.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior members of the team.
• Stay current with the latest OpenStack developments and industry best practices, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 7-10 years of experience in a cloud engineering or similar role, with a focus on private cloud technologies.
• Extensive hands-on experience with OpenStack, including a deep understanding of its architecture and core components.
• Proven experience in migrating workloads from VMware ESXi to OpenStack.
• Strong experience with Linux (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu) and/or Windows Server administration.
• In-depth knowledge of networking concepts, including L2/L3 networking, VLANs, VXLAN, and routing protocols.
• Experience with storage solutions for cloud environments, such as Ceph, Swift, or other distributed storage systems.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
Preferred:
• OpenStack certification (e.g., Certified OpenStack Administrator) is a huge plus.
• Experience with Red Hat OpenShift or other container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Experience with public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
