POSITION OVERVIEW: The Business Analyst III serves as a senior functional analyst supporting Musket's Enterprise Trade & Risk Management (ETRM) ecosystem and related business applications. This role partners with business stakeholders, developers, architects, and project managers to analyze business processes, define requirements, and deliver technology solutions that improve operational efficiency across trading, logistics, scheduling, accounting, and risk functions.
Business Analyst III acts as a functional subject matter expert, leading complex analysis efforts, supporting solution design, coordinating testing activities, and driving successful implementation of technology initiatives while ensuring alignment with business objectives.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead business analysis activities for medium to large projects supporting Musket's ETRM and related applications.
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand business objectives, document current and future-state processes, and identify solution opportunities.
- Elicit, analyze, validate, prioritize, and document business and functional requirements using industry best practices.
- Create process flows, data flows, functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects and development teams to design scalable and supportable solutions.
- Evaluate multiple solution options and recommend approaches based on business value, technical feasibility, and operational impact.
- Support integration efforts involving APIs, data interfaces, imports/exports, and enterprise applications.
- Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), regression testing, and defect management activities.
- Participate in solution design reviews, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release planning.
- Assist with production support by troubleshooting application issues, performing root cause analysis, and coordinating issue resolution.
- Build and maintain reports, dashboards, and system documentation.
- Prepare release communications, training materials, and end-user documentation.
- Support change management activities and represent the team during Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings.
- Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement and system optimization.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience
- 10+ years of experience with an ETRM related system (RightAngle preferred) inclusive of expert functional knowledge of most business domains (trading, scheduling, accounting, risk, credit).
- 7+ years of experience supporting Production Incidents.
- 7+ years of oil & gas experience (prefer midstream and downstream experience).
- 5+ years of Business Analysis experience supporting enterprise software solutions.
- 5+ years of experience gathering business requirements and translating them into functional specifications.
- 5+ years of managing or leading IT projects.
SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Skills:
- Knowledge of Openlink, RightAngle, basic databases, system integration and data reporting structures
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating across multiple teams.
- Ability to manage numerous competing demands in an extremely high stress environment.
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
- Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Salesforce, ServiceNow, JIRA, or similar incident management tools.
