CNC Machine Tool Service Technician

Lima, OH | $24-$43/hr + Overtime | Full-Time | Travel Required

Are you an experienced CNC Machine Tool Service Technician looking to work on some of the most advanced manufacturing equipment in the defense industry? We're seeking a hands-on technician to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain large CNC machine tools supporting critical defense manufacturing operations at the General Dynamics Land Systems facility in Lima, Ohio.

What You'll Do

  • Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair advanced CNC machine tools

  • Read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid schematics

  • Troubleshoot electrical and servo-driven machine systems

  • Diagnose and repair spindle assemblies, gearboxes, and mechanical components

  • Perform machine leveling, laser alignment, and precision geometry verification

  • Complete CNC geometry and axis compensation

  • Troubleshoot closed-loop and open-loop axis control systems

  • Perform customer acceptance testing

  • Provide maintenance training to customers

  • Mentor and train junior service technicians

  • Support continuous product improvement through customer feedback

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of Machine Tool Service experience

  • Strong CNC machine troubleshooting experience

  • Ability to interpret electrical and fluid schematics

  • Experience with servo systems

  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills

  • Experience with spindle repair, gearboxes, and machine alignment

  • Experience using laser alignment and geometry measuring equipment

  • Ability to read engineering drawings and blueprints

  • Strong communication and customer service skills

  • Valid driver's license

  • U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5-Axis Traori setup experience

  • Automatic Tool Changer troubleshooting

  • Fanuc, Siemens, or Heidenhain CNC controls

  • OEM Machine Tool experience

Travel

  • Travel required (approximately 15%)

  • Occasional overnight travel as project needs require
