Job description

Amazon Industrial Robotics is seeking exceptional talent to help develop the next generation of advanced robotics systems that will transform automation at Amazon's scale. Key job responsibilities
- Learn and master multiple components including networking/Wi-Fi, safety systems, and a variety of sensors.
- Lead the architecture of these complex systems and break down problems to support more junior coworkers in contributing effectively. Explain our progress and present simplified explanations of technical issues to project managers and other non-technical leaders.
- Work on the edge of the technological frontier, develop novel solutions, and take measured risks when necessary.
A day in the life
As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will work with cross-functional teams to develop, test, and debug complex modern robotic systems. The development process will involve participating in design discussions, brainstorming novel approaches to the hardest problems in robotics, and implementing new product concepts and features. Testing efforts will involve writing automated tests to validate newly created features or conducting live testing to debug and root cause issues.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 4+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of development experience in C or C++ within an embedded environment or with some aspect of robotic systems. This must include direct, hands-on experience designing, developing, and debugging one of the following: consumer electronics, medical devices, automotive systems, avionics, industrial, or telecommunications product.
- Deep understanding of Hardware -In-the-Loop methodology, experience with Matlab, and Simulink Real Time.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's degree in computer science or electrical engineering
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- 6+ years of development experience within an embedded environment or with some aspect of robotic systems which must include direct, hands-on experience designing, developing, and debugging one of consumer electronics, medical devices, automotive systems, avionics, industrial, or telecommunications product
- 3+ years experience developing embedded C applications that use an RTOS (such as FreeRTOS, uC-OS, Zephyr, VxWorks) and embedded Linux environments
- In depth knowledge of open source Linux-based development tools and architectures.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
