Get to Know This Role
The Packaging Filler Operator Technician 1 is responsible for assisting in all aspects of packaging daily operations. Reporting to the Packaging Supervisor, this position supports the packaging team to autonomously meet production demands. The Packaging Filler Operator Technician 1 will use their advanced knowledge of Sierra Nevada's packaging processes, equipment, and standards areas to contribute to the continuous improvement of packaging systems.

What You Will Do
  • Operate equipment on a high-speed packaging line; follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and complete documentation via online check sheets
  • Perform clean in place and clean out of place (CIP/COP) operations to fillers, tanks, and beer transfer lines
  • Clean production areas, equipment, work areas, or other parts of the facility to maintain food sanitation standards
  • Create SOPs as needed; evaluate and recommend practice changes for existing SOPs
  • Adjust the production and machine operation schedule as required by unexpected production, quality, or maintenance delay
  • Effectively troubleshoot equipment-related issues and other automated brewery processes; perform routine inspections, basic troubleshooting, minor adjustments, repairs and light-duty maintenance of equipment; suggest machine preventative maintenance
  • Provide training for new and existing employees, develop training documentation and ensures proper documentation of training
  • Serve as packaging liaison for GMP (good manufacturing practices) and food safety audits; ensure all food safety tasks are documented
  • Provide resources and direction to ensure production downtime projects are completed; assist with projects as needed
  • Communicate and works in conjunction with other departments (Quality, Brewing, Maintenance, etc.) as necessary to meet department objectives
  • Perform other duties as needed
  • This role is responsible for production and support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Safe Quality Food (SQF) System as defined in the SQF Code. There will be Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety and Food Security Training as required by Local, State, Federal and SNBC policies. All duties will be completed in a manner that is consistent with all aspects of Company Safety Rules, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF). Employees shall report food safety & quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

  • 1 year Experience in a consumer-packaged goods manufacturing environment preferred

  • Ability to proactively identify and prioritize improvements that drive quality and minimize waste and inefficiency
  • Ability to use advanced, holistic knowledge of packaging department to continually improve processes
  • Demonstrated ability to operate equipment efficiently and safely
  • Knowledge of beverage packaging manufacturing process equipment
  • Competent with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.), Sight Glass, Switchboard, and MP2 (maintenance software)
  • Thorough understating of quality guidelines, processes, programs, and tests and the ability to make thoughtful decisions with quality in mind
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, personal accountability, collaboration with peers and cross-functional teams, and a continuous drive for results
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated initiative and the ability to work autonomously
  • Familiar with production concepts and industry-wide best practices including, but not limited to production scheduling, inventory management, line efficiency management, downtime reduction strategies, continuous improvement
  • Strong attention to detail and eye for package quality
  • Mechanical, electrical, or automation systems aptitude
  • Strong written, verbal, reading, listening, and comprehension skills
  • Exceptional coordination, prioritization, multi-tasking, and organizational skills

  • Forklift Certification upon hire preferred
  • Forklift Certification within 180 Days required
