Job description

SUMMARY

A Machine Operator is required to have full working knowledge of critical and highly sensitive production machinery, including but not limited to, Kitchen Blender with forklift operator certification, and Tipper Tie extrusion. When not operating machinery, individuals will be asked to work as needed within production department, which will require a strong understanding of entire manufacturing process including Sanitation and Quality Assurance.

As a Machine Operator, one is expected to be able to work without the need to receive detailed instructions or cause a drop in efficiency/productivity or quality levels. This position requires strong organizational as well as basic mechanical & electrical skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Work in high speed and low temperature work environment
  • Outstanding attendance record and ability to work unsupervised
  • Work closely with maintenance personnel
  • Decipher daily production schedules to set up appropriate lines and/or equipment for production or maintenance
  • Proficient at machinery set-up, operation, breakdown, sanitation and basic maintenance
  • Responsible for maintaining machines productivity rates and timely documentation of all down time
  • Knows and understands GMP Food Safety Policies and Procedures and all quality expectations related to the appropriate department and piece of equipment
  • Understands and complies with all company safety policies
  • Understands FIFO rotation and how to decipher and determine Lot numbers of both raw materials and finished goods
  • Communicates well with Production Leads, QA personnel and Maintenance personnel
  • Assists Shift Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor with special assignments

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS

Forklift operator certification

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
  • 3+ years of food preparation experience.
  • Has worked a minimum of 2 months in each of the key production departments, and has proven to be an effective team member
  • Excellent understanding of lot codes and timely accurate documentation is critical to this position.
