Founded in 1986, OnTrac has evolved into the leading provider of same-day and next-day delivery services in the U.S. for premier e-commerce and product-supply businesses, including five of the largest retailers in the U.S. 

 

Location: 802 East Centre Park Blvd DeSoto, TX 75115 

Pay: $104,800. – $157,200.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 5:00pm (Hours subject to change based on the needs of the business)

 

Employment Logistics: 

The Central Yard Operations General Manager leads network-wide centralized yard execution across all hubs. This role is accountable for trailer prioritization, move sequencing, and yard performance standards that directly impact throughput, on-time departures, and cost per package. The General Manager owns the operating model for a 24/7 central yard control team and establishes consistent execution across time zones and sites.

This role sets network targets for trailer move time, door dwell, and yard dwell, and ensures adherence through real-time monitoring, standardized Yard Management System (YMS) workflows, and defined escalation paths. The General Manager partners with Hub Operations, Linehaul, Technology, and Finance to align yard execution with enterprise service and cost objectives. The role is responsible for implementing centralized control across all hubs, driving measurable productivity gains, managing the associated operating budget, and reporting performance and financial impact to senior leadership.

The Must-Haves: 

  • 10+ years of relevant operational leadership experience, including multi-shift or network-level responsibility, with a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Up to 75% Travel
  • Comprehensive understanding of hub operations, linehaul dependencies, dock flow, and yard management execution
  • Strong financial acumen, including budget ownership, cost-per-package analysis, and productivity modeling
  • Ability to analyze operational data, identify root causes of dwell and delay, and implement corrective controls

Your Mission in Motion: 

  • Lead centralized yard execution across all hubs, owning trailer prioritization and sequencing to ensure safety, eliminate rolled priority freight, and maximize throughput
  • Oversee a 24/7 central yard control team, driving consistent decision-making across time zones
  • Establish and manage network targets for trailer move time, door dwell, and yard dwell
  • Drive measurable throughput improvements tied to trailer move time reduction
  • Partner with Technology to optimize YMS configuration and system enhancements
  • Align with local Operations leadership to define decision rights, safety compliance boundaries, and escalation protocols
  • Oversee performance reporting across real-time, daily, weekly, and monthly metrics, including yard productivity and linehaul departure adherence
  • Lead Monthly Business Reviews to evaluate operational performance and financial impact
  • Manage the centralized staffing model, operating budget, and Hostler staffing execution
  • Direct phased rollout and activation of centralized yard execution across all hubs
  • Translate operational metrics into financial outcomes and network-level decisions
  • Solve complex, cross-functional challenges by developing strategic, data-driven solutions
  • Anticipate emerging trends and market dynamics to strengthen long-term competitive positioning
  • Lead hourly associates in a high-throughput, 24/7 operating environment
  • Collaborate effectively across Operations, Technology, Linehaul, and Finance
