What is an onsite job?

Onsite jobs are positions where employees are required to work physically at the employer's location or a specific worksite, rather than remotely or from home. These jobs often involve tasks that cannot be performed virtually, such as operating machinery, providing in-person services, or collaborating closely with teams. Onsite roles are common in industries like manufacturing, healthcare, construction, and retail, where physical presence is essential for productivity and safety. Working onsite can also foster teamwork and direct communication but may require commuting and adherence to set work hours.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an onsite coordinator?

To thrive as an Onsite Coordinator, you need strong organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, and relevant experience in event or facility management, often supported by a bachelor’s degree in business or a related field. Familiarity with scheduling software, facility management systems, and communication tools is typically required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, adaptability, and attention to detail help you excel in managing teams and resolving onsite challenges. These capabilities are crucial for ensuring smooth operations, client satisfaction, and the successful execution of onsite activities.

What are common challenges faced by onsite employees, and how can they be managed?

Onsite employees often face challenges such as adapting to a specific workplace culture, managing commutes, and balancing team collaboration with independent tasks. These can be effectively managed by fostering open communication with colleagues, leveraging onsite resources like mentorship or training programs, and ensuring a healthy work-life balance. Proactively engaging with team members and participating in regular check-ins can also help onsite employees integrate smoothly and stay informed about project developments.

Job description

Why Choose Mallory?
For more than 40 years, Mallory has provided industrial organizations with safety expertise and supply chain efficiency, along with a broad array of safety products and solutions. At Mallory Safety & Supply, we get energized by applying thought and creativity to provide best-in-class solutions. This energy has fueled significant growth, leading us to quadruple in size over the last 20 years. Today, we are one of the largest independently owned safety distribution companies in the country, with 35+ locations and more than 600 employees.
Mallory Safety & Supply has always been a family-owned and privately held business. Our business model is customer-focused, and we thrive by providing basic service brilliance! We offer a casual work environment, professional development, and opportunities for advancement. Our 33 core values guide our intentional, employee-centric company culture, and we are looking for dedicated, motivated, and smart team members to grow with us.
Mallory Safety & Supply is hiring an Onsite Inventory Specialist to join our growing Onsite team!
As an Onsite Inventory Specialist, you'll help keep our customers stocked with the safety products they need to keep their teams working safely. This is a hands-on, active role that combines inventory, driving, customer service, and onsite support.
You'll begin your day picking and packing products for your route before heading out in a Mallory cargo van to service customer locations. A large part of your day will be spent replenishing and maintaining onsite vending machines, along with completing weekly eyewash and first aid inspections.
While driving is an important part of this position, this is much more than a traditional delivery driver role. You'll serve as a representative of Mallory at our customers' facilities and will be trusted to identify issues, think critically, stay organized, and make sure our customers receive dependable service.
Experience isn't everything in this role. We're looking for someone with a great attitude, strong critical-thinking skills, and a willingness to learn. If you're dependable, comfortable working independently, and aren't afraid to jump in and figure things out, we can teach you the rest!
Schedule: Monday through Friday, with a typical schedule of approximately 9:00 AM-5:30 PM or 9:30 AM-6:00 PM.
Here are the benefits that Mallory Safety & Supply can offer:
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Employer-paid Long-Term Disability
  • Voluntary Term Life, Accident, and Disability Insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program with additional benefits such as financial wellness and planning
  • 10 hours of paid time off per month to start
  • 7 paid holidays throughout the year
  • Yearly appraisal and bi-annual reviews
  • Employee discounts and Mallory swag
  • Certifications and continued job development opportunities
  • Opportunities for promotion and growth
  • Monday through Friday dependable schedule - no nights or weekends!
  • A positive company culture - check out our website for more information on The Mallory Way!

Here is how you can make an impact as an Onsite Inventory Specialist:
  • Pick and pack safety and industrial products needed for daily customer routes
  • Drive a Mallory cargo van to assigned customer locations throughout the local area
  • Stock, organize, and replenish safety and industrial products at customer sites
  • Replenish and maintain onsite vending machines, ensuring products are stocked accurately and available when customers need them
  • Complete weekly eyewash station inspections and first aid cabinet inspections
  • Monitor onsite inventory levels and identify products that need to be replenished
  • Maintain inventory accuracy and follow established stocking and inventory-control processes
  • Build positive relationships with customer contacts and provide friendly, dependable onsite service
  • Load, unload, organize, and transport products and supplies between Mallory and customer locations
  • Communicate inventory needs, customer requests, and onsite issues to the appropriate Mallory team members
  • Use good judgment and critical-thinking skills to troubleshoot issues that arise while working independently in the field
  • Perform frequent lifting, bending, walking, driving, and other physical activity throughout the workday

Here is what we are looking for in an Onsite Inventory Specialist:
  • A current, valid driver's license and driving record that aligns with Mallory's Safe Driver Policy
  • Comfortable regularly driving a cargo van, such as a Ford Transit, Dodge ProMaster, or similar vehicle
  • Dependable, positive, and willing to learn
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and stay productive without constant supervision
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Friendly and professional communication skills when working with customers
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and adjust priorities throughout the day
  • Comfortable working in industrial and manufacturing environments
  • Comfortable with a hands-on, active position that involves regular lifting, bending, walking, stocking, and driving
  • Basic comfort with technology and the ability to learn the systems used to manage inventory and customer service
  • Previous inventory, vending, route service, warehouse, delivery, merchandising, or customer service experience is helpful, but not required - attitude, dependability, and critical thinking are more important to us than having done this exact job before!
  • Ability to read and write in English

Hiring great people is the most important thing we do. If you're motivated, dependable, willing to learn, and take pride in doing things the right way, we offer an environment where you can grow and make an impact.
Mallory Safety & Supply is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, veteran status, disability, or any other status protected by applicable law. Veterans are encouraged to apply!
