Job description

IPS is seeking a dynamic Senior Field Engineer on Hydro Field Service Projects to join our team. In this role, no day will be the same. You'll troubleshoot, repair, and maintain equipment while delivering top-notch service to our customers. Responsibilities & Expectations:

As a Senior Field Engineer on Hydro Field Service Projects, your main responsibilities will be to provide technical support for equipment repairs related to Hydro Generator stators, rotors, and balance of plant equipment. You will also lead the onsite field services crew assigned to the project to ensure all contractual obligations and service deliverables are met, and quality targets are achieved. Your role at IPS will require you to demonstrate strong repair skills and prioritize providing an exceptional customer experience.

●        Provide on-site project oversight of service repair team and have accountability for repair and preventative maintenance

●        Accountable for the full scope of repair service of the hydro generator stator and rotor, including all testing processes

●        Oversee and operate equipment including torch sets, megger, hipot, resistance, doble testing, ELCID, forklift and personnel lifts, etc.

●        Identify product failures and assist in identifying possible root causes

●        Act as the primary liaison managing communication between internal organizations and customer stakeholders to ensure effective product support customer satisfaction

●        Distribute data and information on customers issues, to ensure all service project team members share a common understanding and fully acknowledge and adhere to project objectives

●        Assist with proposals and technical solution development, coordinate closely with Application Engineers

●        Provide customer insights and market intelligence on pricing, scope and execution

 

Qualifications and Competencies:

●        B.S. Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred

●        5+ years of experience in a support of field engineering position or lead winder position

●        Direct Experience in winding and repair services of hydro generator stators and rotors, and comprehensive knowledge of all testing processes

●        Must have operating experience with equipment including torch sets, megger, hipot, resistance, doble testing, ELCID, forklift and personnel lifts

●        Ability to travel up to 80%, including remote customer facility on-site direct support for typically 2 months per project

●        Strong proficiency using MS Office software is required, advanced capability in Excel is highly preferred

●        Strong customer service focus, with a sense of urgency when dealing with issues and critical tasks

●        Effective and strong project leadership skills

●        Knowledge of power distribution, utilization equipment and application considerations including the various types of switchgear, relays, breakers, transformers, motors, generators (including control & excitation) and variable speed drives is preferred

●        Environmental hazards and frequency of exposure, noise or Vibration, Extreme temperatures and/or conditions (heat or cold; wet/humid), Hazards such as explosives, mechanical, electrical, chemical, other, Poor ventilation, fumes, gases, dusts, mists, other

●        Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

●        Travel requirements up to 75%

Pay Rate Details: $105,000 - 115,000 (Depending on experience)
