Medication Technician (Med Tech) 


Seminole Shores Assisted Living Center 

Pay 

  • $16.75- $19.75 per hour 

  • Pay based on experience and credentials 


Shifts Available 

1st Shift (Full-Time) - 12hr Shifts (5:45a-6:15p)

2nd Shift (Part-Time) -  (3p-10p) 

3rd Shift (Full-Time) - 12hr Shifts (5:45p-6:15a)

  • Required to work Every Other Weekend*

Position Purpose 

Responsible for safe, accurate, and timely medication administration as ordered by a Licensed Health Care Professional. Assure that all aspects of the resident’s personal care and service plan are implemented while assuring that the resident is treated with dignity and respect, assisting each resident to be as independent and self-sufficient as possible. 


Qualifications 

  • Must be able to read, write and carry out directions in English  

  • Caregiving experience or certification preferred: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Competency Evaluated Nursing Assistant (CENA), Home Health Aide  

  • Minimum of 18 years of age 

  • Must successful complete the Heritage Property Management Med Tech Certification training course and pass the Med Tech test.   

  • Must be able to pass the state mandated criminal background screening and pre-employment drug screening for illegal substances.


Essential Functions 

  • Timely and accurate administration of medications to residents as ordered by the licensed health care professional 

  • Accurate and timely documentation of medication administration in the EMAR system 

  • Follows proper protocol for reporting any medication related concerns 

  • Maintain medication inventory including controlled substances  

  • Reorders medications timely to assure residents do not miss doses 

  • Maintains a clean and organized medication cart and med room.  

  • Professionally communicate with providers, pharmacy, hospice and families as needed 

  • Proper documentation of all communication relating to resident care, including changes in medication orders 

  • Document care and services as directed 

  • Deliver care based on individual service plans 

  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Bathing, dressing, toileting, hygiene mobility, dining) 

  • Respond promptly to resident requests and call lights 

  • Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to supervisor 

  • Assist residents with meals and life enrichment activities as needed 


Physical and Mental Requirements 

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds 

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend assist residents in all aspects of personal care 

  • Handle emotional and physical demands of caregiving
