Bay Ridge Assisted Living Center is looking for a compassionate individual with a positive attitude to join our culinary staff for a Culinary Aide position!
Purpose: Culinary Aid supports the kitchen staff in the preparation and delivery of nutritious and appealing meals for residents of the assisted living facility. The role includes assisting with meal service, food preparation, cleaning, and ensuring food safety standards are met. This position requires a passion for food and a commitment to providing excellent service to elderly residents.
Pay Range: $15.50-$18.00 /hour

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in meal preparation and cooking, following established recipes and portion control guidelines.
  • Prepare food items such as salads, desserts, beverages, and garnishes.
  • Ensure food is served at the correct temperature and in an appealing manner.
  • Set up and clean dining areas, ensuring all tables are properly set and ready for service.
  • Serve meals to residents according to their dietary needs and preferences, ensuring accuracy of orders.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and food prep areas.
  • Assist in organizing and storing food supplies, ensuring proper rotation of stock.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Help with washing dishes and maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen and dining area.
  • Communicate any resident food preferences, restrictions, or allergies to the kitchen team.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure smooth kitchen and dining operations.

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in food service or culinary environment is preferred, especially in a healthcare or senior living setting.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor when interacting with elderly residents.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift, up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a kitchen environment with varying temperatures.
  • Capable of handling and working with kitchen equipment.

Work Environment:
  • Assisted living facility with the need to interact with elderly residents.
  • A collaborative team atmosphere with alternating shifts on weekends and holidays.
