These competencies are crucial for efficiently designing innovative products and effectively iterating in fast-paced engineering environments.

What is an Onshape job?

An Onshape job typically involves working with Onshape, a cloud-based CAD (Computer-Aided Design) platform used for product design and engineering. Professionals in this role may include mechanical engineers, designers, or CAD specialists who create, modify, and manage 3D models and assemblies. They may also collaborate with teams using Onshape’s cloud-based tools for real-time design, version control, and project management. Knowledge of parametric modeling, CAD principles, and product development processes is usually required.

What types of projects and team collaborations can I expect as an Onshape CAD Designer?

As an Onshape CAD Designer, you will typically work on projects ranging from conceptual product design to detailed mechanical assemblies, often collaborating closely with engineers, product managers, and manufacturing teams. The cloud-based nature of Onshape facilitates real-time collaboration, meaning you'll frequently share designs, incorporate team feedback, and resolve technical challenges using collaborative tools. Your daily responsibilities might include creating and revising 3D models, preparing technical drawings, and ensuring designs meet project requirements and timelines. Because Onshape is often used in agile environments, you should be prepared for rapid iteration and ongoing teamwork. This role provides exposure to a variety of industries and opportunities to expand your skills as you take on increasingly complex design responsibilities.
