Job description

Job Requirements:
Writing consultants meet individuallyor in small groups with students to help them with writing from all stages oftheir writing processes. Writing consultants provide advice andsuggestions for a range of writing tasks and concerns, from developing thesisstatements to citing and integrating sources. The Writing Center offers ateaching, not a proofreading service. Our goal is to teach writers how toimprove rather than to edit for them. The consultant for the OnlineWriting Center helps distance education students, primarily from the School ofNursing's graduate programs, virtually via Zoom as well as students who visitthe Writing Center for face-to-face sessions without an appointment (i.e., on awalk-in basis). Knowledge of or willingness to learn Zoom is required.
The position currently pays 16/hour and is funded for 8 hours per week.
Tutoring or teaching experience,particularly of writing, is desirable. Training is provided. In addition to anorientation, one hour every other week is spent at professional developmentmeetings that provide ongoing training. 
Applicants must be full-timestudents in a for-credit degree program and cannot be concurrently workinganother job at Duquesne. Hourly staff members use the time management softwareKronos UKG to log in and out at the beginning and end of shifts. Applicationsare being accepted immediately and will be processed as they are received.
