Job description

Join a fast-growing digital news team producing content for Sinclair's national network of news sites. We're looking for a creative, motivated journalist who loves online storytelling, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and brings fresh ideas to the table. If you're passionate about digital news, eager to learn new tools, and ready to make an impact, we'd love to hear from you. Evening and weekend availability may be required as news happens.

DUTIES:

  • Write, select and publish news and other stories to Sinclair Inc's network of sites

  • Ability to react to and post breaking news quickly and accurately is a core expectation of this position

  • Daily news aggregation from around the web and editing of wire service content

  • Research, report and write original stories

  • Produce and edit multimedia elements for online stories

  • Track trending user generated content and create interesting digital stories

  • Manage remote and streaming feeds on our station's websites and National Desk social media accounts

  • Complete branded tasks as assigned daily

  • Monitor analytics to measure story performance

  • Video editing and production of reels, and other social media content

  • Posting to social media outlets including but not limited to YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook

  • Newsletter production and mailing

  • Ability to work all shifts including but not limited to mornings, late nights, and weekends

  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent (Degree in journalism or related field strongly preferred)

  • Minimum of three years of online journalism experience preferred

  • Excellent writing skills and knowledge of AP style required

  • Must have a sense of urgency when confronted with short deadlines and breaking news

  • Strong understanding of content usage rights management and restrictions

  • Strong proficiency in editing software such as Premiere, Adobe Cloud, Capcut, etc.

  • Experience with YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, and other social media platforms

  • Must be self-motivating and able to work well with a diverse group of people

  • Is a team player and is willing to put the teams needs first

  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Excellent organizational and critical thinking skills

  • Understanding of Microsoft 360 products: Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Teams

The base salary compensation range for this role is $52,000 to $61,000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates' relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life 
and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
