1.0 FTE Mathematics and Science Teaching Position
Summary: Full-timeMiddle School Mathematics Teacher with EX certification and Science Teacher (DX, DI, DA, and/or DC) 0r equivalent to instruct students in the Washtenaw Educational Options Consortium at Washtenaw International Middle Academy (6th - 8th grade).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following:
Assume mathematics and science teacher responsibilities including:
  • Work collaborative and positively with diverse students and families to promote strong academic achievement for all students
  • Work collaboratively with department colleagues to develop instruction, curriculum, and assessments aligned with inquiry-based, constructivist learning that promotes equity and social justice
  • Develop engaging, student-centered lessons and units that include trauma-informed practices and equity-focused curriculum
  • Engage in learning and modeling cultural proficiency and restorative practices
  • Develop classroom culture that promotes a growth mindset using standards based learning practices
  • Communicate regularly via email, google classroom, and in person, with students, staff, and families to promote student achievement for all students, especially underserved students and families
  • Work collaboratively with the Student Support Team to support students and develop plans of support
  • Work collaboratively with the administrative team to develop interventions and supports for student concerns with academic, social, and emotional needs
  • Participate in Professional Development relevant to the International Baccalaureate and Cultural Proficiency, Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice Training.
  • Implement standards based learning and mastery based learning school-wide policies and practices.
  • Other duties as assigned by the principal

Daily work schedule 7:25 am-3:15 pm.
Meet instructional and compliance requirements of the International Baccalaureate program.
Qualifications: Valid Michigan secondary teaching certificate with necessary endorsement(s). Middle school teaching experience preferred. Candidates with experience with Equity, Inclusion, and Trauma Informed Practices preferred.
Education and/or Experience: Qualification and certification to teach Mathematics and Science. Experience, qualification and interest in sponsoring co-curricular activities.
Language Skills: Highly proficient in written and verbal communication with a particular emphasis on subject area specific competence and interpersonal communications.
Technical Skills: Ability to use computer technology for research, data management, communication and other instruction. Experience with Google classroom, Google Drive, Turnitin.com, and Power School preferred.
Reasoning Ability: Highly proficient in subject area reasoning, problem solving, organizational dynamics and emotional intelligence.
Physical Demands: Capability to perform duties normally associated with secondary teaching. Salary: To be determined based on experience and qualifications. Salary ranging from $40,000 to $87,000.
