What does an Online Oracle Trainer do?

An Online Oracle Trainer is a professional who teaches individuals or groups how to use Oracle database technologies and related tools through virtual platforms. They design training materials, deliver live or recorded instructional sessions, and provide support to learners as they master Oracle concepts and skills. These trainers often tailor content to different skill levels, from beginners to advanced users, and may also prepare students for Oracle certification exams. Their goal is to help learners effectively use Oracle products in real-world scenarios.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Online Oracle Trainer, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Online Oracle Trainer, you need in-depth knowledge of Oracle databases, teaching experience, and relevant Oracle certifications (such as Oracle Certified Professional or Oracle Certified Trainer). Familiarity with learning management systems (LMS), virtual classroom tools like Zoom or Webex, and Oracle development environments is typically required. Outstanding communication, patience, and the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly are crucial soft skills. These skills ensure effective knowledge transfer, learner engagement, and successful training outcomes in a virtual environment.

What are some common challenges faced by Online Oracle Trainers and how can they be addressed?

To address these, trainers can incorporate interactive elements like quizzes and real-time problem-solving, regularly update resources to match the latest Oracle developments, and maintain strong communication channels for troubleshooting. Collaborating with other trainers and IT support staff can also help ensure a smooth learning experience and foster continuous improvement.

Job description

At Chewy, it is our mission to become the most trusted and convenient online destination for pet parents and our partners vets and service providers alike.  Our success is measured by the happiness of the people and pets we serve, not simply by the amount of pet supplies we deliver. That’s why we continue to think of outside-the-Chewy-box ways to delight, surprise, and thank our loyal pet lovers!

Our Opportunity:

At Chewy, we are building scalable, modern financial planning capabilities that enable smarter and faster business decisions across the enterprise. We are seeking an experienced Oracle EPM Administrator – Planning Specialist to support, optimize, and enhance our Oracle EPM Planning ecosystem.

In this role, you will administer and improve Oracle EPM Cloud Planning solutions, including Workforce, Capital, and Financials Planning, while partnering closely with Finance, FP&A, Accounting, and IT teams. You will play a key role in driving planning efficiency, automation, governance, and system reliability across critical budgeting and forecasting processes.

The ideal candidate brings strong Oracle EPM technical expertise combined with a deep understanding of financial planning operations and enterprise-scale business processes. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of financial planning technology within a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment focused on continuous improvement and operational excellence. Does this sound like you? If so, we would love to hear from you! Come run with the Pack!

What You’ll Do:

  • Administer and support Oracle EPM Cloud Planning applications, including Workforce, Capital, Financials Planning, and Strategic Modeling.

  • Manage Development, Test, and Production environments, migrations, deployments, and Oracle quarterly updates.

  • Configure metadata, hierarchies, security, dashboards, forms, business rules, and calculation scripts.

  • Build and maintain integrations using Data Integration, REST APIs, EPM Integration Agent, and flat file processes.

  • Monitor system performance, integrations, scheduled jobs, and application availability to ensure reliable operations.

  • Partner with Finance, FP&A, Accounting, and IT teams to deliver scalable planning and forecasting solutions.

  • Troubleshoot issues, optimize system performance, and improve user experience through automation and process enhancements.

  • Support budgeting, forecasting, reporting, governance, documentation, testing, and end-user training initiatives across the enterprise.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of experience administering Oracle EPM or Hyperion Planning solutions.

  • Hands-on experience with Oracle EPM Cloud Planning and related planning modules.

  • Solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and FP&A processes.

  • Experience supporting integrations between Oracle EPM, ERP systems, and data warehouse platforms.

  • Knowledge of REST APIs, EPM Automate, SQL, Groovy scripting, or ETL tools preferred.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with technical and non-technical customers.

  • Strong ownership mindset with attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement.

  • ability to translate technical insights into business value.

The base salary range for this role is $100,000 - $160,000.00.
  • The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. C08+ positions may also be eligible for annual bonus.

We offer different types of insurance and benefits, such as medical/Rx, vision, dental, life, disability, hospital indemnity, critical illness, and accident. We offer parental leave, family services benefits, backup dependent care, flexible spending accounts, telemedicine, pet adoption reimbursement, employee assistance program, and many discounts including 10% off pet insurance and 20% off at Chewy.com.

Exempt salary team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
