Job description

We have an exciting opportunity to join the team at Orleans Technical College in Northeast Philadelphia as an Evening Building Maintenance Instructor. Under the supervision of the Academic Affairs Director, the instructor will be responsible for teaching students through hands-on projects and theory in safety, math, and other basics of building maintenance.

Job Duties:

  •   Provide instruction, as specified in the curriculum, in the basics of building maintenance.
  •   Ensure that safety, classroom and school rules are followed consistently and take appropriate measures when they are not
  •   Communicate regularly with Student & Career Services teams regarding student performance as it relates to job openings and potential employers.
  • Implement changes to curricula and lesson plans to incorporate approved/relevant online and digital content, new textbooks, new testing software, new instructor resources, new equipment
  • Continually develop and refine classroom management and effective presentation skills
  • Evaluate growth opportunities for Orleans Technical College by providing input to customized training opportunities; short-term training opportunities
  • Suggest and participate in professional development (in person and online) opportunities to remain current in field of training as well as in effective instruction methods
  • Provide evaluation of students on hands-on activities
  • Provide testing of students’ knowledge of theory

This position is part time. The hours are Mon-Thur 5:30 to 10:15 PM
