End Date: Around mid-August 2026 (beginning of semester)

Job Description
The Chesapeake Baysox Merchandise Intern is a part-time internship designed exclusively for current university students who will receive college credit for participation. This internship provides hands-on, real-world experience within a professional sports organization. The Merchandise Intern will gain valuable insight into retail operations, fan engagement, and sports-based merchandise sales while learning how a Minor League Baseball team store operates on both game days and non-game days. This position offers the opportunity to develop skills in communication, customer service, inventory management, and marketing collaboration. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
 
Qualifications
  • College sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate students receiving academic credit in Sport Management, Business Management, Sales, Marketing, or a related field
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
  • Availability to work event nights, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and/or ability to quickly learn
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
 
General Responsibilities
  • Assist with inventory management, pricing, and stocking merchandise
  • Assist with fulfilling online merchandise orders
  • Support the marketing team with lifestyle photoshoots as needed
  • Assist with social media content and promotional efforts
  • Work the majority of Chesapeake Baysox home games and events as directed by the Merchandise Manager
  • Gain experience in team store layout and visual merchandising to promote sales
  • Learn merchandise purchasing strategies based on market trends, collection gaps, and inventory needs.
  • Ability to lift 10-40 pounds (lbs.)
  • Creating or participating in promotional and social media content
  • Track basic online sales performance and identify opportunities to improve product mix and presentation
  • Support promotional campaigns tied to player announcements, theme nights, and special events
 
Game Day Responsibilities
  • Assist with the preparation of the merchandise store for game day
  • Help operate the merchandise store during games as needed
  • Restock merchandise throughout the game
  • Assist with closing procedures after games.
