Job description

About the Position The Public Works Traffic Operations Division is hiring an Electrician to perform electrical work involving the construction, installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronic, and communications systems. Here's what you can expect to do: Perform electrical work involving the construction, installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical, electronic, and communications systems. Maintain, repair, and install instruments, apparatus, and equipment, including high and low-voltage and fiber optic systems.

Install, maintain, and test electrical equipment used in operating a variety of equipment such as traffic signals, streetlights, pumps, microprocessors, control panels, and transformers. Apply electrical expertise in facility construction, maintenance, and repair. Utilize aerial personal lifts, ladders, and manual tools.

Adhere to OSHA requirements and established safety policies and practices. Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned. For more information and essential functions, see our Electrician Job Description.

Information about the current vacancies: Currently, there are vacancies for both day and evening shifts, with occasional after-hours callbacks. These positions will also be required to assist with plowing during snow emergencies. Position Requirements Must possess a Class A journey-level electrician's license issued by the State of Minnesota. Must possess and maintain a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's License, or equivalent out-of-state driver's license. For positions in Public Works: Must possess and maintain a valid Class B or A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no restrictions for airbrakes.

The CDL must have no suspensions or revocations for driving-related offenses within the two-year period prior to the date of the appointment. Suspensions for parking-related offenses are excluded. Must pass a DOT required pre-employment drug screen and submit to DOT mandated random drug and alcohol testing after hire.
