Job description

Data Entry Specialist
BBG | Hybrid | Fairfax, VA | Full-Time
Why This Role Matters

You'll be the steady hand behind every eligibility change, ID card request, and client update that keeps BBG's book running without a hitch, the person producers and carrier partners count on before a renewal ever gets bumpy.

This seat sits at the center of BBG's client service operation: real accounts, real carrier relationships, and a volume of eligibility and ID card work that only runs smoothly when someone owns the details. Producers and carrier representatives work with this person directly, not around them. Backed by Patriot's national carrier access and a network of 150+ locations that actually collaborates, you'll have the platform and support to do this work at a genuinely high standard, whether you're a few years into client service or bringing a proven track record with you.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Process client eligibility changes and ID card requests with precision and within tight timeframes, so clients and carriers can count on accurate coverage every time.
  • Maintain the client management portal with the latest information, so producers and carrier partners are always working from the same accurate picture.
  • Communicate carrier decisions, including the difficult ones, directly to clients, so nothing gets lost in translation between the carrier and the people it affects.
  • Navigate multiple carrier and CRM portals every day, so eligibility changes and ID card requests move without delay.
  • Respond to client and internal requests promptly and accurately, so trust in BBG's service never wavers.
  • Escalate issues to carrier representatives when appropriate, so problems get resolved by the right person the first time.
Who You Are
  • You notice the small stuff, a mismatched date or a missing digit, before it becomes someone else's problem.
  • You stay calm when a client is frustrated, because you know how to be the reassuring voice on the other end of the call.
  • You keep your word on timeframes, even when the queue is long.
  • You ask questions instead of guessing, because you know eligibility data is only useful when it's right.
  • You collaborate naturally with teammates and other departments, no ego required.
  • You treat client and employee information with real discretion, not just because policy says so.
  • You stay current on industry changes because you'd rather know than be caught off guard.
What You BringDay One:
  • An Associate Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a similar field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Enough experience in a technical support or administrative support role to know what a high-volume day of eligibility changes and ID card requests actually requires. Typical years of experience are as follows: 1 to 3 years.
  • Hands-on experience with employee benefits software, plus comfort working across CRM systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • A working understanding of insurance concepts and terminology, enough to speak confidently with clients and carrier representatives.
Valuable Additions:
  • Experience in the employee benefits industry specifically.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a similar field.
  • An active Virginia Life and Health Insurance License.
Real Benefits for Real Life
At Patriot, great benefits mean more than coverage; they mean being there through every stage of life: your health, your family, your financial future, or simply time to recharge. Whether you're working or not, life doesn't stop. Neither should your benefits.

Highlights Include:
  • Multiple medical plan options, with preventive care covered at 100%
  • Free virtual medical and mental healthcare for employees and their families, plus a dedicated healthcare concierge to help you navigate benefits, compare prescription costs, and make more confident, personalized care decisions
  • Employer-paid short-term and long-term disability coverage
  • Paid parental leave
  • Personalized PTO that lets you take time away when you need it, without traditional accruals, plus separate sick leave
  • Competitive 401(k) company match to help you build your financial future
  • Comprehensive dental and vision coverage
  • Employee Assistance Program with confidential mental health, legal, financial, and work-life support
