Job description

Principal Product Manager - AI Creation & Growth (Remote Eligible)

-REMOTE, USA-

For over 20 years, Smartsheet has empowered teams to manage work seamlessly and scale solutions smarter. Now, in our most ambitious chapter yet, we are uniting human teams with AI agents. By orchestrating the work agents do best, automating manual tasks and uncovering insights at scale, we create the space for people to focus on what truly matters: judgment, creativity, and big thinking. That is magic at work, and it’s what we show up for every day.

We are looking for an experienced Principal Product Manager to join our Product Organization at Smartsheet. In this role, you will own the intersection of AI-powered creation and product-led growth, driving investments that help customers get to value faster through intelligent content generation, AI-assisted onboarding, and self-serve activation. You will be accountable for setting strategy and making high-impact investments in areas of high ambiguity, aligned to customer demands and business goals.

You will report into a leader in Product Management, and can be based in our Bellevue, WA office or work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.

You Will:
  • Own the AI creation product surface: drive AI-powered asset generation, intelligent template recommendations, and the overall experience that turns a blank canvas into a working solution
  • Define and drive the activation strategy: set the vision for how AI reduces time-to-value for new and expanding users, with a clear north star metric and a roadmap to move it
  • Improve AI output quality: define standards for AI-generated content in Smartsheet, and work with engineering and design to improve the accuracy and usefulness of outputs over time
  • Build the PLG feedback loop: optimize creation flows to understand what drives users to their "aha moment," use that signal to iterate fast, and turn activation wins into expansion
  • Partner deeply across the org: work with engineering, design, data science, and platform teams to ship capabilities that are both technically excellent and delightful to use
  • Set the bar for quality and craft: define what "great" looks like for AI-generated content in Smartsheet and hold the team accountable to it
  • Communicate with influence: distill complex AI and growth dynamics into crisp strategy narratives for executives, GTM partners, and the broader product org
You Have:
  • 8-10+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 years owning AI/ML-powered product experiences
  • Proven PLG instincts: you've owned activation, onboarding, or self-serve growth metrics and know how to move them
  • Deep curiosity about AI: you understand how generative AI and LLMs work well enough to push the boundaries of what's possible and have productive debates with engineers
  • A track record of shipping: you've taken complex, ambiguous AI or growth initiatives from 0 to 1 and scaled them
  • Data fluency: you're comfortable defining success metrics, designing experiments, and making judgment calls when the data is incomplete
  • Enterprise product sensibility: you understand the unique constraints of building for enterprise buyers while optimizing for end-user delight
  • Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, and visual; you can sell a vision and sweat the details
Bonus Points:
  • Experience with content generation, document intelligence, or AI-assisted creation products
  • Background in template ecosystems, marketplaces, or recommendation systems
  • Familiarity with onboarding funnel analytics tools (e.g., Amplitude, Mixpanel)
  • Employer subsidized medical/vision and dental coverage for full-time employees
  • 401k Match to help you save for your future (50% of your contribution up to the first 6% of your eligible pay)
  • Monthly stipend to support your work and productivity
  • US employees are automatically covered under Smartsheet-sponsored life insurance, short-term, and long-term disability plans
  • US employees receive 12 paid holidays per year
  • Up to 24 weeks of Parental Leave
  • Personal paid Volunteer Day to support our community
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development including access to Udemy online courses
  • Company Funded Perks, including a counseling membership, local retail discounts, and your own personal Smartsheet account
  • Teleworking options from any registered location in the U.S. (role specific)

Smartsheet provides a competitive base salary range for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location.
