Job Description
Reynolds is one of the largest community colleges in Virginia and serves Virginia's capital city and five nearby counties. Annually, our four campus sites serve approximately 13,000 credit students and provide training for 7,400 students through the Community College Workforce Alliance (CCWA).

The Computer Science faculty member supports the mission of Reynolds Community College and the School of STEM by providing high-quality, inclusive instruction in computer science and related areas. The faculty member will provide instruction in courses across computer science curricula, including programming, computer organization, systems, and discrete structures. The position plays a key role in preparing students for transfer to four-year institutions and for entry-level positions in computing, data, and technology-related fields. Responsibilities include curriculum development, advising, assessment, and engagement with industry and academic partners to ensure program relevance, alignment, and quality. Faculty are expected to uphold the college's values of access, equity, and excellence, while fostering a collaborative learning environment that supports the success of all students.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in computer science; or master's degree in any discipline with at least eighteen (18) graduate semester hours in Computer Science.

Additional Considerations
  • Professional, teaching, or applied experience in computer science, software development, data science, artificial intelligence or related computing fields.
  • Experience in programming or teaching one or more object-oriented languages (e.g., Java, C, C++, Python).
  • Experience developing curriculum, training materials, or instructional content in face-to-face, hybrid, or online settings.
  • Experience with emerging technologies, project-based learning, applied instruction, or industry-aligned practices.
  • Experience in communicating technical concepts to diverse learners and audiences.
  • Experience in collaborating, and working effectively with students, faculty, staff, industry partners, or community stakeholders.
