Job Description

Performance Contracting is seeking an experienced Drywall Estimator for its Bay Area 555 operations based in Alameda, CA. This individual will have a proven track record using On-Screen Takeoff (OST) and Quick Bid software to generate accurate and competitive estimates for commercial, multifamily, and institutional projects. You’ll work closely with project managers, general contractors, and suppliers to ensure our bids are competitive, thorough, and strategically positioned for success.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Review frontend documents, architectural drawings, specifications, and addenda to develop comprehensive drywall and framing estimates.
  • Utilize On-Screen Takeoff (OST) and QuickBid to perform digital takeoffs and build accurate labor and material estimates.
  • Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for metal framing, insulation, drywall, acoustical ceilings, and related scopes.
  • Coordinate pricing from vendors and subcontractors to compile complete bid packages.
  • Analyze project risks, scope gaps, and clarify bid inclusions/exclusions.
  • Maintain organized records of takeoffs, estimates, and historical cost data.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed.
  • Collaborate with project managers to support project turnover, budgeting, and value engineering.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor pricing to help improve estimating strategy and win rates.
  • Client Engagement and communication

Salary range: $100,000-170,000 annual salary plus non-guaranteed annualized bonus program.
This position is safety-sensitive.

Basic Requirements

  • Must have at least 5 years’ experience estimating construction projects
  • Experience with estimating or managing specialty scopes of construction
  • Strong ability to read, understand, and interpret specifications and drawings for PCI’s scopes of work, specifications, materials, and methods
  • Has a record of establishing and maintaining strong customer relationships
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills
  • Possess a high level of attention to detail and cost analysis skills
  • Ability to accurately read project schedules to determine sequencing and durations of scopes of work
  • Proficiency with computer takeoff and estimating software such as On-Screen Takeoff and Quick Bid
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (e.g., Excel, Word), Bluebeam Revu, Procore, or PlanSwift
  • Must have a sharp understanding of estimating techniques and the bidding process
  • Ability to work effectively both in a collaborative team environment and independently
  • Ability to learn new skills by engaging in technical job functions and applying new skills as they’re learned
  • Possess critical-thinking and problem-solving skills

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, or related discipline
  • Experience with Bluebeam, PlanGrid, or Procore
  • OSHA certification
  • Experience working with union representatives
  • Experience estimating projects in healthcare, education, commercial office space or high-rise residential sectors.
  • Local to Bay Area, CA
