Hours per week: varies by accepted assignment
Location: Lebanon and Albany: On call staff select the days and locations they are available to work.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Prepare and serve meals for Head Start children, families and staff.
Follow menus provided for meal preparation.
Perform clean up after meals; ensure proper sanitation and food safety guidelines are followed.
Wash dishes, assemble dishes for meal times, transport food from kitchen to centers/ classrooms and sanitize and clean the kitchen, duties such as sweeping, mopping and taking out the garbage.
Additional Job Responsibilities:
Some placements require transporting food to center locations and meet requirements to drive program vehicle.
Attend and participate in program meetings as requested by supervisor
Complete all areas of responsibility in compliance with program code of conduct and confidentiality policies.
Be a contributory team member in a positive/productive manner.
Demonstrate commitment to mission, values and policies in the performance of daily duties.
Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Position Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
HS Diploma or GED.
Previous food service experience; cooking for large groups a plus!
Sensitivity to individual and group needs of adults and children in target area.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, staff and public
Ability to set and maintain professional boundaries with families.
Other Requirements
Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record if you wish to be considered for placement with a center that transports.
Enrollment in the Child Care Divisions Central Background Registry
Completion of Employee Health Appraisal including TB screening.
Completion of Food Handlers Card
Necessary Physical/Mental Abilities
Occasional lifting (up to 70 pounds), ability to load and unload totes into service van.
Frequent repetitive movements in kitchen for cleaning purposes: mopping, sweeping, wiping tables, etc. and washing dishes.
Ability to manipulate a variety of kitchen tools.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to bend/twist and use arms/hands frequently and repetitively
Work effectively with people of diverse cultures, races, values and lifestyles.
