Job description

At Houston Methodist, the Workday Technical Analyst position is responsible for the design, configuration, integration, and ongoing support of the Workday platform to meet complex and evolving organizational needs. This role serves as a technical subject matter expert, translating business requirements into secure, scalable, and optimized Workday solutions. The analyst partners closely with business stakeholders, IT leadership, and external vendors to ensure system reliability, data integrity, and compliance with enterprise architecture standards. By leveraging deep Workday expertise, this role drives process efficiency, maximizes platform capabilities, and supports strategic initiatives that enhance operational performance and employee experience.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor's degree required or four additional years of experience required in lieu of degree

EXPERIENCE
  • Five years IT experience to include three years in senior level engineer, analyst or consultant role. Houston Methodist Workday project team member plus two additional years of demonstrated progressive responsibility satisfies all experience requirements
  • 3 years of experience in ERP integration
  • Experience with Workday, Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, and Workday Web Services
  • Experience integrating Workday with third-party systems preferred

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Preferred
  • AWS-CSA - Certified Solution Architect (AWS) or
  • MCAF - Microsoft Certified Azure Fundamentals (Microsoft) or
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)

  • Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through ongoing skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Collaborates with business and IT teams to gather requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and deliver effective Workday solutions.
  • Provides technical guidance and training to peers and end users on Workday functionality, integrations, and reporting.
  • Builds strong partnerships with internal stakeholders and vendors to ensure aligned priorities and efficient problem resolution.

SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Configures, tests, and deploys Workday enhancements, integrations, and security updates in alignment with organizational standards.
  • Monitors and supports Workday integrations, ensuring data accuracy and timely processing across connected systems.
  • Provides tier-2/3 support for Workday technical issues, resolving incidents within defined SLAs.

QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ensures compliance with data security, privacy, and regulatory requirements through rigorous testing and governance.
  • Develops and maintains technical documentation, including system diagrams, configuration standards, and integration mappings.
  • Executes structured testing protocols for all Workday changes to validate performance, usability, and accuracy prior to release.

FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Identifies opportunities to leverage native Workday functionality to reduce reliance on third-party tools and associated costs.
  • Supports optimization of licensing and integration costs through system rationalization and effective vendor management.
  • Monitors resource usage and performance to ensure efficient allocation of technical support efforts.

GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Researches and recommends new Workday features and innovations aligned with business strategy and platform roadmap.
  • Partners with business units to design scalable Workday solutions that enable process automation and improved user experience.
  • Champions continuous improvement by analyzing system performance, identifying gaps, and implementing enhancements
