Job description

Maritime Docking Infrastructure Maintenance Coordinator

Picture a critical docking window: vessels queued, schedules tight, safety non-negotiable. You ensure the dry dock is ready—systems inspected, controls verified, paperwork precise—so crews can execute confidently and the fleet can sail on time. That’s the impact you’ll have at Everett Ship Repair (ESR), the Pacific Northwest’s premier repair and conversion facility, founded in 2019 and strategically growing alongside our U.S. Navy neighbor.

Mission

Steward the reliability of ESR’s dry-dock assets by coordinating maintenance, repairs, upgrades, and overhauls in full alignment with NAVSEA requirements—elevating readiness, quality, and operational availability.

How You’ll Contribute
  • Plan and coordinate dock maintenance and modernization activities using written procedures and schedules.
  • Execute against NAVSEA Standard Items, Technical Manuals, drawings, and Work Specifications.
  • Champion OSHA, NAVSEA, and shipyard safety practices—gas-free engineering, confined space, and hot work controls.
  • Monitor progress, labor loading, material readiness, cost performance, and schedule adherence.
  • Inspect mechanical, piping, and auxiliary systems during all dock evolutions; record and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain configuration control and work authorization; keep documentation complete and accurate.
  • Review/approve JHAs, work control forms, and test/inspection plans to drive first-time quality.
  • Lead daily production touchpoints, toolbox talks, and safety briefings that keep teams aligned.
  • Identify growth work; partner with the Dry Dock Maintenance Supervisor to prioritize and execute solutions.
  • Engage with NAVSEA, SUPSHIP, and DoD personnel during audits, inspections, and certifications.
Background That Fits
  • Diploma or higher degree.
  • At least 2–3 years in maintenance, overhaul, or shipyard operations.
  • Demonstrated preventive maintenance know-how.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards.
  • Experience with NAVSEA Standard Items (preferred).
What You Bring
  • Confident decision-making in regulated, schedule-critical environments.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and work specifications accurately.
  • Clear, timely coordination and communication across diverse trade teams.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills; meticulous about safety, quality, and detail.
  • Comfort with maintenance tracking platforms, work controls, and documentation workflows.
Security & Regulatory
  • Compliance with ITAR, export control regulations, and classified material handling procedures is required.
Where and How You’ll Work
  • Naval shipyards, dry docks, and controlled/restricted-access facilities.
  • Expect extended hours, shifts, weekends, and on-call support during critical operations.
  • Work includes confined spaces, work at heights, hazardous materials, noise, and marine exposure.
  • Use of PPE and compliance with all safety/security procedures are mandatory.
Equipment You’ll Use

  • Overhead Crane
  • Forklifts
