Job description

Join our dynamic care team at Hospice of Western & Central Massachusetts in Berkshire County as an On-Call Hospice Registered Nurse! This part-time position offers a stipend pay and mileage reimbursement, with a minimum of 4:30p-8a during the week and all day Saturday and Sunday, 7 on, 7 off. As a key member of our hospice care team, you will provide exceptional care to patients and their families, making a lasting difference in their lives. $175 per day.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to on-call messages, making recommendations via phone and making visits as needed

  • Complete comprehensive assessments of patients and families to determine hospice eligibility and care needs

  • Provide skilled nursing care, including education and support to patients and loved ones

  • Complete clinical notes regarding patient condition and care given

  • Supervise hospice Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs)

  • Teach patients and loved ones self-care techniques as appropriate

  • Provide emotional support and bereavement support to patients and their families

  • Initiate and revise plans of care as patient status and needs change

  • Assess and evaluate patient status, identifying opportunities for improved care and quality of life

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

  • Current and active RN license in Massachusetts; CPR certification

  • 1-2 years of experience in acute care, home care, or hospice preferred

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and basic math skills

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
