The Division of Abdominal Imaging in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, University of Miami Health System and Leonard Miller School of Medicine, is seeking a fellowship-trained candidate for a full-time faculty position at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Professor in the clinical educator track.

The successful applicant will join a faculty of more than 80 clinical radiologists who are involved in imaging at multiple facilities, including Jackson Memorial Hospital (a primary, tertiary, and quaternary care County hospital) and from the University of Miami Hospitals and Clinics. CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Active clinical practice in both outpatient and inpatient settings.

  • Participation in the advancement and education of diagnostic radiology medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Participation in the development and management of new and ongoing clinical research.
  • Provide clinical imaging services to interpret X-rays, CT, MRI, and Ultrasound examinations and perform some non-invasive fluoroscopic procedures.
  • In addition to the rich clinical experience, faculty will participate in teaching residents, fellows, and medical students, as well as clinical research, journal club, and weekly multidisciplinary conference.
  • Supervise the performance of technical personnel.
  • Be part of the on-call radiology schedule.
  • Exercise quality assurance as related to the practice of general radiology and abdominal imaging.
  • Provide abdominal imaging consultation as requested.
  • Staff off-site outpatient imaging sites as requested by the Division Director or Chair.
  • Assume administrative responsibilities related to the practice of abdominal radiology.
  • Participate in teaching activities related to general radiology as required in:
  • Diagnostic Radiology and integrated Diagnostic Radiology/Interventional Radiology Residency programs
  • Abdominal Imaging Fellowship Program
  • Medical student education program
  • Radiologic technologist educational programs
  • Continuing Medical Education programs
  • Serve on Departmental and University committees as requested by the Chair.

Thus, the incumbent will be expected to participate in didactic teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows and attend and actively participate in seminars and other educational lectures. Teaching also includes participating in the supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows who are involved in direct patient care. As a faculty member, we also anticipate that you will actively participate - attending meetings, Grand Rounds, and other University scholarly activities.

Education:
  • Medical Degree
  • Diagnostic Radiology Residency
  • Body Imaging Fellowship

Certification and Licensing:
  • American Board of Radiology Certified or Board Eligible
  • Florida Medical License or Eligible

Experience:
  • Competitive applicants will have completed at least 1 year of dedicated subspecialty fellowship training in Abdominal Radiology. Prior experience in a university faculty setting preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
  • Provide clinical imaging services to interpret X-rays, CT, MRI, and Ultrasound examinations, as well as performing non-invasive fluoroscopic procedures.

On call Information
  • Jackson Health System: Provide coverage for imaging studies of patients scanned at Jackson Memorial Hospital on weekends and holidays, working with on-call fellows and residents. On -call responsibilities including availability after hours (8 PM- 8 AM) 7 days a week during call week and reading all inpatient and outpatients imaging studies performed at Jackson Memorial Hospital and UHealth Tower between 8 AM Friday to 4 PM Sunday.
  • UHealth System: Provide coverage for imaging studies performed at UHealth Tower as well as urgent imaging studies performed within the UHealth system performed during the weekend (8 AM- 4 PM).
