SPA's AEIG has an open Aviation Test Engineer position to support all phases of air vehicle testing, including planning, budget management, hardware/software integration, lab testing, flight testing, and status briefing. The Aviation Test Engineer will work closely with the Customer, Test Lead, other Government Agencies, and Vendors to manage multiple test programs from conception/planning to execution/results reporting.
Responsibilities
Work Type: On-Site (Redstone Arsenal, AL)
Your day-to-day work will include:
  • Testing program conception/design.
  • Scheduling development/management.
  • Performing budget development/management.
  • Stakeholder coordination/briefing.
  • Developing briefings and schedules to inform stakeholders.
  • Coordinating meetings.
  • Completing test site surveys.
  • Attending and overseeing test events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
At a minimum you should have the following:
  • US Citizenship and an active SECRET security clearance.
  • Eligibility for a TOP SECRET clearance.
  • A bachelor's degree in a STEM-field.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience.
  • Experience with Army Manned and/or Unmanned Aviation platforms.
  • Experience supporting technical efforts for system/subsystem/component level projects regarding cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Experience developing and evaluating OEM proposals to include analyzing large amounts of technical data.
  • Experience coordinating with OEMs & other outside vendors on technical projects in execution. This includes managing/adjudicating issues.
  • Experience developing specialized technical documents and preparing briefings for senior leaders.
  • Experience coordinating and supporting test and demonstration activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office products.

You will be highly desirable if you have:
  • An active TOP SECRET clearance.
  • Experience providing SETA support to an Aviation Program Office.
  • Experience supporting Foreign Military Sales (FMS) cases.
  • Experience supporting Army Science and Technology (S&T) and/or DARPA programs.
  • Experience with Autonomy concepts, technologies, and approaches for unmanned systems.
  • Experience with Frequency Spectrum Requests.
  • Test Range coordination and/or experience.
  • Knowledge about airworthiness qualification (FAA DO-178C, AR 70-62).
  • Experience in facilitating and conducting demonstrations.

This role includes 25% Travel possibility.
