Purpose & Organizational Context

Found Village exists to shift conditions for young people to thrive. Transportation plays a critical role in ensuring youth access to programs, relationships, and community opportunities. On-Call Drivers provide flexible transportation services that prioritize youth safety, operational excellence, and reliability.

Important Scope Note:
Drivers transport youth only to programs, events, appointments, and community activities. Drivers do not transport youth to coaching sessions. Drivers operate Found Village fleet vans only; personal vehicles are not authorized.

Employment Classification

  • On-call (casual) W-2 employee.
  • No guaranteed weekly hours.
  • Shifts are offered based on organizational need and driver availability.
  • Drivers may accept or decline posted shifts without penalty.
  • Position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime per federal and state law.

Scope of Work

Drivers may opt into the following shift types:

  • Full Return Shift: Pick-up and drop-off (round trip).
  • Partial Shift: Pick-up only or drop-off only.
  • Event Support (Optional): Pre-approved support at programs or events. Event support time is paid but does not trigger the weekly minimum guarantee unless at least one full return shift is completed that week.

Compensation

Base Rates

  • $23/hour (Weekdays)
  • $25/hour (Weekends – Saturday & Sunday)

Weekly Minimum Guarantee

Drivers who complete at least one full return shift in a workweek (Monday–Sunday) are guaranteed a minimum of $150 in total weekly pay.

  • If total earned wages for the week exceed $150, drivers are paid their actual earnings.
  • If total earned wages are less than $150 and a qualifying full return shift was completed, pay will be adjusted to $150.
  • The guarantee applies only when a full return shift is completed.

Cancellation Policy & Shared Risk

  • If Found Village cancels a confirmed shift less than 2 hours before the scheduled start time, the driver will receive a 2-hour cancellation minimum at the applicable hourly rate.
  • If a confirmed shift is canceled more than 24 hours in advance, no cancellation pay applies.
  • The $150 weekly guarantee applies only if a full return shift is completed; cancellation alone does not trigger the weekly guarantee.

Overtime

  • Hours worked over 40 in a workweek are paid at 1.5× the regular rate of pay.
  • If multiple rates apply within a week, overtime is calculated using the weighted average method, in compliance with FLSA regulations.

Paid Time Includes

  • All driving time
  • Approved pre- and post-trip inspections
  • Required documentation and reporting
  • Approved event support during scheduled shifts

No mileage reimbursement is provided (drivers use Found Village fleet vehicles exclusively).

    • Routing technology and documentation systems

Performance & Conduct Standards

  • Punctuality and reliability
  • Professional communication with youth, caregivers, and staff
