Department: Fingerprinting

Status: Non-Exempt, Part Time

POSITION SUMMARY

Under supervision of the Human Resources department on behalf of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, process applicant fingerprints on digital fingerprinting system for electronic submission to the State Department of Justice for the purpose of applicant background checks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

Because all Archdiocesan employeesrepresentthe Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.

  • Provide excellent customer service and answer routine questionsofapplicants.
  • Request andvalidatephotographic applicant identification according to DOJ standards.
  • Log into live scan device and enter applicant data from Live Scan form into live scan device
  • usingoperatoridentification number.
  • Roll legible and clear fingerprint impressions.
  • Complete and sign required paperwork associated with theapplicantfingerprint process.
  • Maintain daily logs of processed information.
  • Sort and collate Live Scan paperwork for billing purposes.
  • Maintain fingerprint equipment in good working order.
  • Clean and disinfect fingerprint equipment after each applicant.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Clean and disinfectgeneralwork area daily.
  • Initiate service and maintenance requests for fingerprint equipment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, typically:

  • Active member of a Roman Catholic faith community.
  • Excellent customer service and ability to work without direct supervision
  • Owned Vehiclewith proofof valid Driver's License and insurance

Certifications:

California law requires any individual who rolls fingerprints manually or electronically for licensure, certification, and/or employment purposes to be certified by the State Department of Justice (Penal Codesection11102.1).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Fingerprint processing procedures according to California Department of Justice standards.
  • Archdiocesan Fingerprinting Policy.
  • Correct English usage, grammar, punctuation, vocabulary, and spelling.
  • Applicable State and federal laws, rules, and regulations.

Skills:

  • Basic Computer skills.

Ability to:

  • Properlyoperatedigital fingerprint equipment.
  • Read and type a minimum of 35 words per minute.
  • Complete fingerprint computer tasks and fingerprint rolling ina timelyandaccuratemanner.
  • Understand and carry out verbal and written directions.
  • Represent the Archdiocese in a credible and positive manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Operate other standard office equipment, including (but not limited to) copymachine,printer, fax machine, calculator, and other peripheral equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with applicants, staff, andpublicin general.
  • Prioritize, organize, and complete tasksin accordance withestablished policies and procedures
  • Make arithmetic calculations.
  • Establish andmaintaineffective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
