Primary Responsibilities:   Responsible for the daily functions in the 100 Sails Restaurant and Bar. Welcome guest with a warm and inviting demeanor. Attentive to guest’s needs and engage with guest in conversation and establish a rapport. Deliver and serve food and/or beverage items in a friendly, courteous and time manner, resulting in guest satisfaction. Has the ability to use of POS system, proper check handling procedures, collection of payment and cash handling. Insure prompt service according to hotel standards. Well organized and have a willingness to learn. Has the ability to carry drinks and glassware utilizing a cocktail tray.

Essential Duties:

  • Greet guest in a warm and friendly manner, personalizing the service.
  • Take food and beverage orders according to hotel standard; upsell or do suggestive selling to enhance guest experience.
  • Process orders using the hotel’s POS system, close checks and complete reports as required.
  • Remove dirty dishes, silverware and glassware from tables.
  • Responsible for transacting guest check. Accept cash, room charge and credit card payment.
  • Check food and beverage orders for accuracy. Ensure orders are complete with proper utensils and condiments. Ensure delivery is timely.
  • Knowledge of the coffee/juice bar menu, restaurant menu and hotel fact sheet.
  • Perform all opening and closing duties to hotel standards.
  • Detailed understanding of serving equipment and usage.
  • Maintain supplies and cleanliness throughout service period.
  • Consistently perform tasks as specified on sequence of service standards and SOP’s.
  • Notify Manager of any problems.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned by the manager.

Other Duties:

  • Knowledge of the Prince Waikiki branding, history and geography.
  • Keep dining room and surrounding area clean and orderly.
  • Monitor and up-keep supply inventory. Pick-up and stock linen supplies.
  • Assist other waithelp if needed.
  • Ability to open wine bottles with proper etiquette in ding room.
  • Recommend the resort’s restaurants and facilities to guest.

Working Conditions:

  • 100 Sails Restaurant & Bar work station in kitchen area.
  • Bar and kitchen noise.
  • Fast paced environment with immediate guest service.

Work Hours:

  • Able to work hours shift and days determined by manager.
  • Able to work more than 40 hours per week when needed.

Equipment Use:

  • Proficient in the use of the express/coffee machine and tea brewer.
  • Proficient in the use of the soda machine.
  • Proficient in the use of the resort’s POS system.
  • Proficient in the use of a cocktail serving tray.

Mental and Physical Demands:

  • Able to prioritize and organize workload.
  • Able to manage stressful and challenging situations.
  • Able to train new employees.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. during your work shift.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend and reach to set up carts during your work shift.

Communication Demands:

  • Able to communicate effectively in English to employees, managers and guests.
  • Able to effectively communicate to guest in a warm and friendly manner.
  • Able to handle disgruntled guest in a positive manner.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Department of Health TB clearance.
  • Must be 18 years of age if serving or selling alcoholic beverages.
  • Hawaii State Liquor card required.
  • Must be able to read and write in English to perform job duties.
  • Must be pleasant, friendly and smiling.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Pass a written test on food and beverage items.
  • Pass a practical service test
  • Abide by all state, federal and corporate liquor regulations, pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guest, to ensure all laws are being followed.
