Position Summary Information
General Description/Position Purpose
The Department of Global Languages and Cultures at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a full-year, three-quarter-time adjunct positionspecializinginGerman language and German culture to begin in August 2026. We seek a dynamic teacher-scholar committed to excellence in language instruction and innovative pedagogical practices.
The successful candidate will contribute to the German program by teaching 3 courses per semester at the undergraduate level. Teaching assignments may include nights and/or weekends. In addition, faculty members are expected to perform other duties as assigned in compliance with the collective bargaining agreement.
Responsibilities
• Teach three courses per semester, introductory through advanced courses in such areas as German language, culture, literature and/or film.
• Contribute to the assessment of the language curriculum.
Minimum Qualifications
• M.A. in German Studies, or a related field.
• Native or near-native proficiency in German, and demonstrated excellence in teaching.
• Experience teaching German language and culture.
• Evidence of strong teaching effectiveness.
Familiarity with ACTFL proficiency guidelines and standards-based assessment.
As part of a successful on-campus interview process, candidates will be expected to provide a demonstration of teaching effectiveness and evidence of understanding diverse populations.
