Job description

Respiratory Therapist Position

We're hiring an experienced Respiratory Therapist for a local hospital in Milwaukee, WI where you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders. The facility is a Level III Trauma Center with a Level III NICU, Magnet designation, comprehensive stroke services, and approximately 933 beds. This role will mainly serve adult and geriatric patients with some pediatric patients presenting in the emergency department. Charting is conducted in EPIC.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor's degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program.
  • Current state respiratory therapist license in good standing.
  • Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • BLS and ACLS certifications.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as an RRT, including ventilator management and airway skills.
  • Demonstrated skills with ventilator management, CPAP, BiPAP, nebulization therapy, arterial blood gases (ABGs), vent weaning, extubation, and intubation.
  • Experience using AVEA, Servo-U, LPU 1200, parapack vents for MRI, and Hamilton transport ventilators.
  • Experience working in a hospital acute care environment, including trauma and critical care settings.
  • Ability to float to multiple units within the hospital.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with EPIC electronic medical record and Pyxis medication systems.
  • Prior experience at a Level III Trauma Center or with comprehensive stroke center protocols.
  • Previous experience with 1:1 patient ratios in critical care settings.
Assignment Details
  • Shift: Nights.
  • Standard hours per week: 36.
  • Orientation: at least one shift to learn unit flow.
  • Floating: candidate will float within the hospital to all units.
  • Weekend rotation: every other weekend (default).
  • Time off: requests may be approved up to 7 days (default).
  • On call: varies (default).
  • Scheduling notes: block scheduling will not be accommodated. The organization enforces a fatigue policy limiting staff to no more than 60 hours in a week or five consecutive 12-hour shifts.
  • Scrub policy: any color permitted except camo or denim.
  • Parking: free.
