Summary
This requisition expires on August 25, 2026, but may close earlier if the position is filled prior to the expiration date.
Responsible for keeping the landfill site clean and litter-free while working under supervisor direction ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulatory agencies. Responsible for assisting in lawn maintenance around the landfill facility and vehicle spotting as needed.
Essential Functions and Other Important Duties
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collects windblown litter on and offsite daily, builds temporary litter control fencing around the active working face using t-post drivers and small hand tools so the landfill will stay in compliance with its Texas Commission on Environmental Quality 1590B Site Operating Plan- 13. CONTROL OF WINDBLOWN WASTE AND LITTER.
  • Performs duties such as painting, mowing grass, trimming shrubs, trimming trees, steam cleaning of equipment and general maintenance assignments.
  • Plants,fertilizes, cultivates and irrigates lawns, trees, shrubs and flowers; mows, trims, edges and fertilizes lawns, prunes, sprays trees and shrubs.
  • Spots vehicles and controls traffic flow at the Landfill Working Face or Public Disposal Areas.
  • Performs various lifting and carrying tasks of up to 60 pounds.
  • Reads and understands the landfill site operation plan.
  • Operates light to medium-sized motorized equipment such as mower and pickup truck.
  • Performs routine maintenance, pre/post operation equipment checks (oil, gas, etc.)
  • Completes daily logs
  • Operates a variety of hand tools and/or power tools such as a steam cleaner, weed-eater, yard blower, chainsaw, bolt cutter, hammer, sledgehammer, metal cutter, pliers, wrench, saw, etc.
  • Confers with customers regarding service issues or illegal dumping and reports information obtained to a supervisor.
  • Ability to get along with customers and co-workers.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to use a computer to check emails daily.
  • Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance.
  • Ability to perform all job duties in a safe manner.

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalence:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with one year of experience in a field services environment, landscape and/or field construction work
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Prior experience in techniques, procedures, tools and equipment used for litter collection, landscape and equipment maintenance.

Conditions of Employment:
  • Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class "C" driver's license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law)
  • Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check
  • Must pass a physical examination
  • Must be able to work a 40 hour
  • Must be able to move or lift objects 60 pounds or more, as necessary
  • Must be able to work weekends when needed
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather
