Who We are
The Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center in Kearney (YRTC-K) is accredited by the American Correctional Association, owned and operated by the Department of Health and Human Services, and the State of Nebraska. YRTC-K serves male youth between the ages of 14 and just before the age of 19. All youth committed to the facility are adjudicated (ordered) by the court, committed until the age of 19 or till they complete the programming
Job Responsibilities:
  • The OJS Compliance Technician supports the Office of Juvenile Services (OJS) Compliance Team within the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). This position provides administrative, clerical, and data-entry support in a professional and detail-oriented environment.
    Primary Responsibilities
  • Schedule meetings, appointments, and coordinate calendars for the Compliance Team
  • Order office supplies, equipment, and publications to maintain office inventory
  • Perform word processing and clerical functions including typing, transcribing, proofreading, formatting, and editing correspondence, reports, forms, and other documents
  • Record meeting minutes and complete transcriptions/dictations as needed
  • Enter and maintain data within agency databases and electronic record systems
  • Verify accuracy of entered data and organize records for processing
  • Listen to, transcribe, and document youth phone call recordings during active investigations
  • Collect and distribute information related to Compliance operations and supervisor requests
  • Respond to written inquiries and requests for information in a timely and professional manner
  • Sort, file, retrieve, and maintain correspondence, records, reports, and legal documentation to ensure organized and secure recordkeeping
  • Assist in preparing reports and documentation for legal requests and investigations
  • Complete weekly Kronos timekeeping for the Compliance Team
  • Monitor and assist with data entry and information management across multiple Compliance systems
  • Maintain confidentiality while handling sensitive and protected information

Requirements/Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Coursework/training or experience in public contact, customer service, and/or performing and applying office/clerical support procedures, including the use of a personal computer, associated software, and office equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 Suite
  • Experience with client record systems and data-entry platforms
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and process large amounts of information
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions in a professional setting

Other:
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Must be at least 21 years old to work with youth located at the Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center (YRTC)

Schedule:
Monday - Friday
8am-4pm (0800-1600)
Compensation:
Starting pay is $15.00/hour plus a $3.00/hour facility differential.

  • Agency operations, policies, procedures, and work unit guidelines
  • Office terminology and functions related to the agency and assigned work unit

  • Manual and electronic file maintenance and records management procedures

  • Organize, code, sort, file, and retrieve records using established filing systems
  • Identify similarities, differences, and discrepancies within data and records
  • Communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through email
  • Interact professionally with supervisors, coworkers, agency staff, customers, and visitors
  • Understand and apply verbal and written instructions
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and fractions
  • Review and correct incomplete or inaccurate records and documents
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
  • Operate standard office equipment and computer systems
  • Learn and explain agency procedures, policies, and office operations
  • Apply established office support policies, standards, and procedures consistently and accurately
