Job description

Venture Global LNG ("Venture Global") is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company's Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. Using reliable, proven technology in an innovative plant design configuration, Venture Global's modular, mid-scale plant design will replace traditional designs as it allows for the same efficiency and operational reliability at significantly lower capital cost.

Summary

We are seeking a Senior Laboratory Technician to join our team at the CP2 LNG Facility in Cameron, LA. Successful candidate may be required to train at any of the other Venture Global facilities for a duration of 3-6 months.

This role reports to the Laboratory Supervisor and will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the lab within the existing procedures and applications.

The role must also be able to advise, assist, and audit established procedures, assist with instrument and equipment commissioning, make recommendations, and assist in troubleshooting equipment, and instruments. The role also entails training of lab technicians following existing procedures on sampling, testing, analysis, reporting and chemicals management.

The incumbent will be responsible for conducting the analysis of samples for a typical LNG plant, analysis of which shall include, but not necessarily be limited to:

  • Natural Gas Composition, and impurities testing.
  • LNG composition (Before & after treatment)
  • Refrigerant composition
  • Dewpoint (Natural Gas & other gases)
  • Utility Water (produced, waste, cooling)
  • Testing of other plant utilities
  • Amine solution
  • Environmental Waste Streams
  • Natural Gas Liquids (NGL, condensate)
  • Oil (condition - viscosity, particles, ferrographic)
  • Coordinate third party analysis as needed
  • Cargo Certificates of Analysis
  • Coordinating sampling & testing of external samples

The incumbent shall also be highly familiar with sampling procedures and associated laboratory equipment to perform analysis of the above components. The candidate should have experience with oil & gas industry standards (ISO, GPA, ASTM, UOP etc.) and their applicability within the LNG industry.

General Description Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collect samples as required including but not limited to: Vaporized LNG, High Pressure feed gasses, mixed phase liquids, Refrigerants, Amine, Demineralized Water, and other utility samples.
  • Login and receive samples to test and analyze the above-mentioned components, record lab results, and generate summary reports
  • Discuss out of specification results with operations and engineering for approvals
  • Operate laboratory equipment to perform required analysis, trouble shoot equipment difficulties and initiate minor repairs
  • Coordinate repairs, preventative maintenance on all laboratory application (scheduled & non-scheduled)
  • Inventory management of laboratory supplies and parts
  • Execute daily laboratory tasks and requests in a timely manner with high degree of accuracy and efficiency
  • Maintain a maintenance and calibration program to ensure all analytical equipment are in top condition
  • Collaborate with other laboratory technicians, and supervision on activities
  • Maintain lab equipment readiness by performing daily Quality Control Standards (QCs) and keeping detailed records of all QC data in compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS)

Qualifications

Required experience

  • Education and Certifications: Bachelor of Science in Biology, Chemistry, or related field (preferred), with at least four (4) years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Experience can be substituted for education, (with preference given for recent LNG experience).
  • Oil and Gas experience is required, with preference in LNG applications, however, petrochemical, NGL, cryogenic natural gas processing, or other hydrocarbon processing experience may be acceptable.
  • Extensive knowledge of sampling and laboratory equipment is required, including troubleshooting
  • Analytical skills in quality testing using gas chromatography, ion chromatography, and colorimetric methods.
  • Mechanically inclined to troubleshoot common problems that may occur in an industrial laboratory setting including locating gas leaks, injection issues, or repairing damaged sample cylinders as needed.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate technical data to different audiences from different disciplines, industries, or government agencies
  • The ability to work independently and as a team
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
