Job Description
Select Chemistry's Lab Technician will test and qualify raw materials and products in support of our company's mission to manufacture quality products for our customers. The Lab Technician will conduct routine chemical analyses in a laboratory environment. The technician will be expected to produce accurate and repeatable results and documents to support manufacturing as well as the quality control process. This position will require an individual capable of working independently to meet daily work requirements.
The essential job functions include, but are not limited to
  • Perform analyses on batches of produced materials following written SOP.
  • Work may include the use of specialized laboratory equipment: Viscometer, GC, UV/Vis Spec, etc.
  • Perform analyses in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Accurately record and report the results of all tests performed.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly working environment.
  • Calibrate and maintain testing equipment.
  • May be asked to perform special projects.
  • Occasional travel might be required but will not be a routine part of the job.

Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:
  • 8 hours of college chemistry or associate degree in Science preferred.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures used in a laboratory.
  • Flexibility to work 8 or 12 hour shift.
  • Flexibility to work day or night shift.
  • Flexibility to work overtime.
  • This facility operates 24/7 and this position may occasionally require the technician to change between either day or night shift to support 24 hour operations.
  • This position will require work on weekends on a rotating schedule.
  • This position will require work on some holidays.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or related science.
  • 2 years previous work experience in a laboratory.
  • Previous experience in a quality control laboratory or an oil and gas industry laboratory.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Good math and computer skills.
  • Able to use Microsoft Office Products: Specifically - Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to cooperate and collaborate effectively with other employees.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

Physical Demands and Exposures
