Job description

Department Overview
The Division of Gastrointestinal and General Surgery is a comprehensive team of surgeons focused on the areas of colorectal surgery, esophageal surgery, hernia surgery, treatment of pancreatic cancer and surgical nutrition. Our general surgeons support numerous clinical research trials and actively partner with scientists in the community to develop innovative surgical devices. The general surgery division also encompasses one of the largest residency programs in the country, as well as fellowships in minimally invasive surgery and colorectal surgery.
We are seeking a surgeon for General Surgery to serve the efforts of OHSU and Hillsboro Medical Center (HMC) in improving the health of all Oregonians. This position will serve as an OHSU Clinical Associate providing clinical care at both OHSU's main campus as well as Hillsboro Medical Center located in Hillsboro, Oregon. OHSU Clinical Associates are fully embedded physician and advanced practice provider members of the OHSU Practice Plan (OPP) who deliver care at OHSU-affiliated settings and devote 100 percent of their time to patient care.
Function/Duties of Position
Clinical: Serve as a general surgeon with an emphasis on general surgery and abdominal wall procedures. Duties will include both ambulatory care and surgical procedures. Fair share of call coverage is expected, commensurate with OHSU practices.
Administration: Participate in educational/proctoring activities at OHSU and HMC in conjunction with clinical need and academic interests. Administrative and other duties may be assigned based on department needs and areas of expertise.
Required Qualifications
  • MD/DO-Board Certified in General Surgery
    Experience in general surgery procedures
  • Competency in minimally invasive surgery
  • OR Medical License
    Board Certified/Board Eligible in Cardiology/Cardiovascular Diseases.
  • DEA Certificate
  • ACLS/BLS as required for clinical privileges.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Abdominal wall procedure experience

Additional Details
Work schedule must be flexible between the hours of 6:00am and 6:00 pm. Must be able to work in both a clinic and office environment as well as travel to the Operating Room. Must be able to ride the OHSU tram.
