REPORTS TO: Cross Dock Assistant Manager

JOB SUMMARY

Leads the cross dock team and assists manager with all cross dock activities. Ensures effectiveness and efficiency of the cross dock operations, including team members’ competence, safety, and compliance

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists cross dock team in daily operations, registering, pulling shipping requests, loading and unloading
  • goods and materials.
  • Ensures all shipments loading, unloading, departures, and arrivals are on schedule and in compliance
  • with shipping documentation, policies, and relevant regulations.
  • Verifies, registers, and logs all incoming and outgoing shipments of goods and materials in appropriate
  • databases or computer systems.
  • Assists customers with their requests, inquiries, and issues; responds to customers’ inquiries via
  • telephone or e-mail communications.
  • Ensures all team members are completing tasks and using safe equipment according to safety protocols.
  • Trains team members on policies, procedures, values, and safety. Provides on-the-job support,
  • coordinates activities, schedules, and observes work of team members to ensure adequate
  • performance.
  • Assist in development, implementation, and interpretation of new procedures; evaluates and improves
  • existing procedures, quality and productivity standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Education, experience, certification)

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • One (1) year experience in cross dock or warehouse operations required
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish preferred

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of cross dock or warehouse operation, inventory control, and relevant equipment
  • Organizational skills in warehouse settings and understanding of computer inventory and log
  • systems
  • Interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to execute individual tasks and oversee work of other team members
  • Commitment to helping others fulfilling their roles while maintaining a positive attitude

  • Knowledge of building evacuation procedures and the ability to assist others during evacuation
  • Knowledge of OSHA, Hazmat, and safety policies and the proper use of accident prevention

WORKING CONDITIONS

Warehouse/Cross Dock Environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. High level of schedule flexibility may be required; must be willing to be on-call or report to work after regular work hours on occasion.
