Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Location:  2300 North Wright Road Alcoa, TN 37701

Job Summary:

  • The successful candidate will provide engineering support to maintenance, safety, quality, and operations.
  • This includes restoring product flow, providing technical solutions to recurring problems, analyzing equipment and process data to identify opportunities for improvement, and develop solutions and system improvements to address those opportunities.

 In this role, you will:

  • Provide engineering support to maintenance and operations across the department including restoring flow during breakdowns and developing preventative maintenance systems (including during the off shift).
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process problems to root cause, providing engineered solutions to these problems.
  • Manage large equipment rebuilds - development, justification, management, and implementation of these projects.
  • Develop into the technical equipment expertise for the department and provide technical leadership.
  • Support the department's Quality, Safety, and Environmental goals.
  • All other tasks and duties as assigned.

Also note:

  • This position could have some travel involved, less than 10%. This role does provide on-call support for after-hours (including weekends, off-shifts, and holidays). This role reports to the Engineering Superintendent.

 

Skills: 

You have: (required)

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college/university.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in an electrical engineering field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with working knowledge of manufacturing processes and principles.

Exceptional Candidates also have: (preferred)

  • Experience with ladder logic and programming/troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), Rockwell and Allen Bradley PLC experience is preferred.
  • Experience specifying, installing, and troubleshooting DC and AC motor drives systems.
  • Experience with networking equipment, installation, troubleshooting and commissioning. (ideally as it pertains to Automation Communication).
  • Experience with power distribution systems.
  • Manufacturing experience in the metals or similar industry, with aluminum rolling or processing preferred.
  • Experience with rolling mills and mill controls, shears, strip processing and coiling, metal process furnaces or casting equipment.
  • Technical knowledge to support the installation, operation, and repair of electrical controls and automation technology.
  • Previous experience with data acquisition systems and data analytics.
  • Experience developing business justifications for capital investments, with a strong emphasis on project management and execution.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong problem solving and creative thinking skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.

 

Education:     

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited college/ university.
