Job description

Overview

We are seeking a dynamic Director of Business Office (Revenue Cycle) to lead and optimize all revenue cycle functions, including admissions, billing, collections, and reimbursement strategies. This leader will play a critical role in driving financial performance, improving operational efficiencies, and ensuring compliance while partnering with hospital leadership to support Rio Vista's mission of delivering high-quality patient care.

PURPOSE STATEMENT:ย 

Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and supervise business office activities including the financial counselling, billing and collections functions for all service lines. ย 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: ย 

  • Monitor and report on key metrics such as cash collections, days outstanding, unbilled, denials, daily census, etc. in conjunction with the CFO. ย 
  • Establish and maintain controls for all cash collected and posted in patient accounting system. ย 
  • Maintain effective communication with third party insurance carriers to resolve issues that impede cash flow and detract from patient/member satisfaction. ย 
  • Provide staff management to include hiring, development, training, performance management and communication to ensure effective and efficient department operation.ย 
  • Maintain effective communication with the leadership team to ensure that all third-party compliance guidelines are met. ย 
  • Select and monitor outside collection vendors engaged in the collection of facility receivables.ย  Review and balance agency reports to system reports and approve agency invoices. ย 
  • Lead and provide operational directives for all Business office activities related to the claim's management and collections of the facility receivables and ensure timely, efficient cash collections to support the overall financial goals of the facility.ย 
  • Define and provide the necessary support and leadership to achieve departmental goals and objectives. ย 
  • Review all statistical reports to monitor trends and determine operational deficiencies and implement corrective action plans as necessary. ย 
  • Work closely with Utilization Review and Admissions staff to ensure proper authorization of patient insurance coverage.ย 
  • Manage and direct subordinate staff to identify goals and objectives.ย 

OTHER FUNCTIONS: ย 

  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.ย 
Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:ย 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.ย  Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.ย  ย 
  • Five or more years' job-related experience required.ย  Preferably in behavioral health.ย  ย 
  • Three or more years' supervisory experience required.ย 
  • Strong revenue cycle technical skills required. ย 

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS: ย 

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, maintain automobile insurance coverage and have access to an automobile, where facility requires.ย
