Entry level Receptionist Position which is a great way to get into a clinical environment. Medical Receptionist and/or EPIC exp preferred.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the site designate leader, perform functions relating to business and office maintenance activities including but not limited to, patient appointments, registration, billing functions, cash collection, and phone communication. Follows the guidelines according to established policies and procedures. Must demonstrate and provide good customers skills. Follows Corewell philosophy of Patient and Family Centered Care at all times.

Essential Functions
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills while supporting patients, families, providers, and colleagues.
  • Maintains a welcoming presence and is often the first to speak with patients and families.
  • Serves as a professional first point of contact, ensuring interactions are respectful and responsive to age, cultural, and developmental needs.
  • Accurately accesses and updates patient information within the electronic medical record (EMR/HER). Completes required documentation for each visit or procedure, including verifying patient identity, confirming provider orders, and generating exam or visit requests. Communicates necessary information to patients and families while upholding HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
  • Coordinates appointment scheduling and collaborates with providers and clinical offices to support efficient patient flow.
  • Provides courteous and efficient telephone support, including answering calls, assisting callers, and directing inquiries to appropriate staff or departments. Provides timely and accurate information to patients, families, and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintains a calm, approachable, and team-oriented demeanor while promoting collaboration with coworkers.
  • Demonstrates collaboration and approachability in all interactions.
  • Monitors and replenishes supplies related to front desk needs, escalating broader inventory needs to supervisors or coordinators when appropriate.
  • In a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, including phone calls, check-ins/checking out, and navigating between systems or screens. Demonstrates strong computer navigation skills, including scanning documents, managing work queues, and assisting patients with digital tools such as MyChart.
  • Verifies insurance for patient eligibility and benefits and to navigate payer websites as needed. Applies general insurance knowledge for eligibility and benefit review; preferred experience includes using insurance websites for verification (applicable to East Medical Group practices)
  • Retrieves, organizes, and files medical records and ancillary documents with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Operates standard office and administrative technology, including computer systems, scanners, and other common tools.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills, multi-task oriented, sensitivity to others.
  • Ability to prioritize, self-motivated and ability to handle stressful situations.
  • Able to accurately manage a great number of details in a fast paced environment while providing excellent customer service according to Corewell standards.
