Job description

The Arc of Ocean County is seeking an experienced and motivated Maintenance Coordinator to oversee building maintenance, facility operations, and property upkeep across multiple agency locations throughout Ocean County. This leadership role is responsible for coordinating maintenance activities, supervising staff, and ensuring agency properties remain safe, functional, and well-maintained.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in facilities management, hands-on repair experience, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities across a variety of residential and program sites.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Oversee maintenance operations for agency-owned residential, administrative, and program facilities throughout Ocean County.
  • Supervise maintenance team members by assigning work, tracking project completion, and ensuring quality workmanship.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance activities and respond to routine and complex repair needs involving buildings, equipment, and grounds.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to address emergency and after-hours maintenance issues when necessary.
  • Prepare repair estimates, process invoices, and assist with the planning and execution of larger maintenance projects.
  • Coordinate landscaping, grounds maintenance, snow removal, and exterior property upkeep to maintain safe and attractive facilities.
  • Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and installations involving appliances, furniture, fixtures, office equipment, and building systems.
  • Ensure compliance with agency safety standards and maintenance procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with staff, contractors, vendors, and program leadership to address maintenance concerns and operational needs.
  • Maintain accurate records related to work orders, maintenance projects, inspections, and facility needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, or property management required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical systems, general building repairs, and grounds maintenance.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or leadership experience required.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and project coordination skills.
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment including hand tools, power tools, ladders, and landscaping equipment.
  • Experience utilizing maintenance management systems, work order software, or facility tracking programs preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid New Jersey driver's license in good standing with no more than five (5) points required.
