The Classroom Assistant position requires high-level communication and management skills with the ability to successfully assist children with conflict resolution and to provide support to students with behavioral needs. The Classroom Assistant position requires basic reading, writing, and math skills

Applicants MUST have prior experience working with students in TK-8th grade as well as students with special needs in this age range. The Classroom Assistant completes their work in the background, while the lead teacher is the primary "ego presence" and voice in the classroom. Applicants must be reliable and punctual, have experience with conflict resolution, young children, and students with special needs.

Job expectations include: Uphold an understanding, patient, receptive attitude toward students of varied age groups and varied abilities Assist teachers in carrying out positive reinforcement procedures and strategies, such as by prompting students Provide proactive and meaningful one to one support for students with behavioral difficulties Assist students in one to one and in small group academic learning circles, as organized by a supervising teacher Supervise students during unstructured play time, and uphold school rules Facilitate conflict resolution between students and complete appropriate documentation, including Incident Reports Job Description / Essential Elements: Print Ocean Charter School uses a Waldorf Educational approach to teach common core standards in a public-school setting. The ideal candidate is Waldorf certified, holds a clear multiple subject teaching credential, and would potentially transition into a lead teaching position as a grades teacher.

Prior teaching experience is preferred. Effective communication with parents and colleagues, and organization is an absolute necessity. This position is a wonderful opportunity for a teacher candidate to become immersed in Waldorf pedagogy, including storytelling, singing, recitation, movement, watercolor painting, drawing and core curriculum.
