Job Title: Accounts Payable Specialist - Logistics & Freight
Job Description
This role focuses on receiving, reviewing, and processing a high volume of trucking and broker invoices, entering them as landed costs in the accounting system, and ensuring accurate allocation of freight and related expenses. You will work closely with vendors and internal teams to verify charges, resolve discrepancies, and support reliable financial reporting in a logistics-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Receive and process more than 100 invoices per week from truckers, freight carriers, brokers, and customers.
- Verify invoice charges against expected costs and investigate discrepancies, potential overcharges, and unclear line items.
- Enter invoices into accounting systems as landed costs, ensuring accurate allocation of ocean freight, trucking, and manual costs.
- Communicate with vendors via email to clarify excessive or unclear charges and obtain necessary supporting information.
- Collaborate with internal teams to reconcile costs and support accurate, timely financial reporting.
- Maintain organized records of invoices and cost allocations to support audits and internal reviews.
- Support month-end close processes by ensuring invoices are processed and posted within required timelines.
- Handle all trucking and broker invoices end-to-end, including checking, processing, and entering them as landed costs.
Essential Skills
- 1-3 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting; entry-level candidates with relevant exposure are welcome.
- Experience working in a high-volume invoice environment, handling approximately 100 or more invoices per week.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify cost discrepancies and potential overcharges.
- Comfort working with manual invoice processes and data entry.
- Proficiency with basic accounting systems and tools used for invoice processing and landed cost entry.
- Effective email communication skills for interacting with vendors and internal stakeholders.
- Fast learning ability and strong organizational skills to manage multiple invoices and tasks efficiently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with the logistics, freight, or trucking industry is preferred.
- Experience with landed cost accounting and allocation of freight and related expenses is an advantage.
- Knowledge or experience with Microsoft Dynamics or similar accounting software is beneficial.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to established processes, with solid training and support provided.
Work Environment
This is a fully on-site position in a pleasant, well-situated area. The standard work schedule is 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM with a one-hour lunch break. You will work in a high-volume, manual invoice processing environment, using accounting systems such as Microsoft Dynamics and email as primary tools for communication and documentation. The setting supports focused, detail-oriented work with structured processes and training to help you succeed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Los Angeles, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
